This is a contest entry for SilverStoodios. I really did enjoy making this. First I want to explain this design a bit before I get into the story I made up for him while making him.

So I stayed true to the pallet with a few minor variations. These variations can be seen in the eyes, ears and wings. But besides that I based him off both normal and sweet potatoes. Hence the orange. So I did a lot of splotching and freckles. The reason I did is to create a kind of representation of the sprouts or ‘eyes’ on a potato. They come in lighter and darker colors that contrast the potatoes. I used this the spots to represent this.

Now for the whole story I made up for him.

This is Desertsun. He is a SandWing SkyWing hybrid. Born in the city of Possibility, he was never quite most liked dragon. Some said he was impure. That he would never be good enough to carry on the family tradition of being a doctor. But he didn’t even want to be a doctor. No. He wanted to write stories or sing to people. Maybe even garden. All of which he was insanely good at. Everyone but his parents scolded him for such wishes. And even as the handsome, sweet, charismatic guy he was, he didn’t have many friends. But then he met Snowburn. She was a foul tempered SkyWing IceWing hybrid that had a reputation for snapping at people. But immediately as the empath he was, Desertsun saw past it. He could see that she was just insecure and hurt. But he thought maybe he could drag that out of her. So he set out to do that. He always paired up with her in class no one else would go near her. He would crack jokes with her and would just be himself, hoping that she would return it. She didn’t exactly do that but she was nicer to others. She didn’t snap as much. She started to read in public. Desertsun took this as a win. Well, a small win towards a greater goal. Soon Desertsun and Snowburn became friends. Not super close, but they talked. They would always find each other for projects. They would work on these projects on a small hill with many trees.
One day Snowburn went to go see her mother in the Ice kingdom for two weeks. Desertsun quickly went to work. He wanted to do something for his friend that she would see when she came back. Earlier he had found out that white was her favorite color. So, using his talent for gardening, he meticulously plated seeds for white flowers on their project hill. He got a LeafWing named Lemongrass with leaf-speak to grow them quickly. And when Snowburn came back she was pleased. She spent a lot of her time out in field, reading or drawing.
Soon Desertsun and Snowburn became the best of friends. He would write and sing for her and would care for her flowers. She would draw and read to him. They continued their friendship out of school and then something happened. Desertsun got a job with a gardening business. It was the job of his dreams! He would often go sing in festivals as well. He kept writing, mostly for Snowburn.
Then Snowburn’s mother died. She wasn’t all that close to her but she was still heartbroken. Desertsun stayed with her almost everyday, wanting to be there for her in her broken-heartedness. This act, built up with everything else he had done for her, drove Snowburn to fall in love with him. And her feelings were reciprocated. Despite her anger issues and crazy personality, he still loves her. They are now dating and live in a house together on the side of their hill. Snowburn became an artist and Desertsun continued his job.

This was really drawn out and I don’t really think anyone will take the time to read it but meh. It took like twenty minutes and I don’t want to delete it so just deal with my ADHD caused hyper fixated ramblings
