I think coloring this would make it look awesome! Just blend some of the colors together and the interpretation won't change a bit. In fact, I think it'd make it slightly creepier.
I think that mouth in the back is my favorite part. And the sorta dragon-y thing.

I think I will try coloring this, then...as soon as I finish the 80 bazillion other things I've promised to color for people XD seriously though, the crying girl is the one that coloring will mess up most, cuz her eyes are supposed to be closed but look open because of eyes painted on her eyelids...like Jack Sparrow in the second POTC movie*lol*
