I'm happy bro... we had this killer sunrise at Monument Valley, one to just die for and I don't think I got "the shot" - burst of red for only 30 seconds.

crap man, i know that feeling. from your dad's shot, looks like the light was to-die-for. have you worked on yours yet?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ChimpyJay In reply to ColinHSillerud [2010-07-13 21:41:37 +0000 UTC]

Nope, not yet. That burst of light gave me flare, so I don't think I got the "money" shot homie. I'll have to look at em

ColinHSillerud In reply to ChimpyJay [2010-07-13 23:27:46 +0000 UTC]

ah crap. not sure if you tried this, but I always shoot two exposures to deal with flare - one with the flare, then one with my hand blocking the light to remove the flare. sometimes i even shoot a few with my hand coming from different sides to make sure i have a clean shot from all points.

Damn, if only I woulda' thought of that. Clever idea. Well, you learn something with each trip man, thanks.

Yeah, I get my finger and put it over the sun from the top of the frame, works a treat!!

haha, i think i wrote that to the wrong person. did it make sense with anything we've been talking about?

Nah you didn't, I just butted in, and gave my input on how I go about getting rid of flare haha.
