Mwee X3 i got the idea from one of 's Dev's. With me, being a japanese-sub watcher of Naruto, i don't get to hear the annoying 'believe it!' at the end of most sentences XD But! I DO hear 'Dattebayo!' a helluva lot. This is because 'Dattebayo' can't really be translated into english very well, and the people who ran the 'english' had to find words to lipsynche the mouth movements of 'dattebayo', and guess what, it was 'believe it'. :3The more you know~

I'm with you. I've never even seen the dub. I didn't even know they kept the verbal tic until I read about it. I think it's funny when Naruto's having a heated conversation & the other person throws in 'dattebayo' at the end of a statement just to mock him. It's also funny when he mixes 'dattebayo' with another word, like 'Mattebayo!' (lit. 'Wait~bayo!') (at least I think he does that sometimes, the subs I watch usually don't include 'dattebayo' in the subtitles).

^^ yes, dattebayo isn't as obvious, sometimes he just says a word and then '-ttebyo!' to it XD the good thing is that the subs dont translate it, so y'dont notice the tardiness as much XD

Oh, agreed. If they translated it in the subs it would just pull it out and make it hang on the show like an anchor

I only watch the japanese+subs on youtube mostly unless I run into it on TV and I find "BELIEVE IT!" to be annoying. That and the japanese PWN the americans with ZweihΓ€nder's to the face.

I'm not a follower of Naruto (even though I picked up a DVD of the first series at London Expo... And haven't watched it yet >_>; ), but this comic is great 8D Love the soft colouring, it's very well drawn
And it adds another word to my singular Japanese vocabluary! 8D~

Haha, short but cute little comic. Yeah, the whole "Believe it!" and "I'm gonna become Hokage!" is really annoying, but meh... the anime and manga is still kickass.
Oh, and by the way, the creator of Naruto is Masashi Kishimoto.
