Description I'm an awning-bound baby,
all denim and dopamine.
You're sporting a cardigan,
and a knack for trigonometry.

Toaster waffle junkies,
with blue eyes.
I bridge the canyon between our lips on tip-toe:
(It is more than three inches, but less than thirty miles)

My subdermal south-sun shows through sometimes,
and you're arterially Scandinavian.
I count the stars,
and you count down from 9 to 5.

Statistically, baby, we're damned.

Since when does love care what numbers think?

You have some fantastic lines in here; "all denim and dopamine," is one of my favorites, and that last one seems to contain this rakish, devil may care grin inside the words. ^^

I love the way it sways from poignant phrase to simplistic division of thought back to poignant phrase right the way through. And the surly mannerism with which is used to give some bits clarity over others is utterly amazing. It's almost as if you are condemning your partner, yet loving them for it! Deserves the DLD it was awarded without doubt

Normally I have something interesting to say about literature on here, but this has left me speechless. I've already read this over several times and it hits me the same way every time. Something I don't usually see in a lot of poetry on here is a casual writing style that flows like this. It reminds me a lot of Death Cab For Cutie, I don't know if you've listened to them before, but they have great lyrics.

Fantastically well done! I'm just... speechless. I'm completely in love with this! It seems like I've only come across poems about broken hearts and depression lately so this is a much-needed breath of fresh air for me!

In regards to your differences: I've noticed many times in life, couples find that it's their differences that keep them enthralled of each other, not their similarities. Differences are what keep it fresh and interesting. I wish you two the best of times together!

Statistics are useless in predicting the outcome of a single event; any statistician could tell you that. They're only good for predicting the outcome distribution of a large number of similar events. Go for it, and statistics be damned. The only common traits needed for a long, happy relationship are charity and forgiveness.

even though you guys may not have anything in common in your lives as far as similarities of lifestyle, if you always keep treating each other with kindness and keep considering the other person's needs/wants and stuff there really shouldn't be much of a problem (well except maybe stingy relatives haha)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chipmunku In reply to KyashaKitsune [2010-11-04 20:33:04 +0000 UTC]

Haha yes, I'm not worried. He teases me about it, more. Because we're not within three inches of one another's height, live more than thirty miles, aren't the same religion or nationality (you'll find all those things mentioned in the poem ^.^) But when it comes down to it, I know he loves me.

Statistics be damned!
