It had been a month since Nala's disappearance, and yet Sarabi looked for any sign of her on the horizon as she did her morning patrols. She knew that Sarafina worried terribly for her, as did Scar. Zira had her paws full with not only her new son Kovu but Nala's unnamed daughter. Sarafina helped to a point, but it was obvious that neither she or Nala truly wanted the cub around. A pity it was, but Sarabi knew her best friend was more than willing to take care of the cub. Sarabi wondered if she had gone to the Lowlands to bring Tojo back home, but the thought of *his* bastard soured her mood. And yet this cub was her niece because of her sister... Sarabi would have to pay a visit.

The queen was deep in her thoughts when a small gasp brought her out of them and back to reality.

"So dad rules over everything the light touches... right, mom?"

Sarabi chuckled at the cub on her back, "Yes Nuka, everything that the light touches is our kingdom. Your father rules over every animal, every tree, and every blade of grass that you can see."

"That's so cool! And one day this will all be Tau's... right, mom?"

Sarabi's smile faltered for a moment as she remembered a long lost voice.

'And one day this will all be mine! Right, mom??'

The queen of the Pridelands nodded and continued on with her patrol, her youngest son on her back, remembering the times past and present.

Unbeknownst to her, today would be the last normal morning she would have for a long time. For on the horizon a lion of red and gold makes his way home.

Wanted to do a cute piece with Sarabi and Nuka! In my AU, Nuka is the youngest son of Scar and Sarabi, having one littermate in his sister Ari. I like to think that Sarabi helps Zazu with the morning reports and patrols, this time bringing Nuka out to see the entire kingdom as Mufasa once did Simba. Tau, mentioned in the above story, is Scar and Sarabi's eldest (outside of Simba) and next in line for the throne. Although, Tau wants Nuka to inherit the throne and not him.

I might expand on the above story later, but for now I'm happy with how this all came out.
