Description
Here is the final version of my Alienhead. He was originally supposed to be an alien, though he ended up looking like a lizard man. This is 100% Adobe Illustrator CS. It took me one day to draw out the major lines and get the basic coloring and reflections. Then it took me another day to get the shadows the way I liked and make the eye. Heavy use of blends and gradient mesh opacity masks.I hope I categorized this right -- Animals seemed closest, since there isn't a sci-fi section.

Thanks. It's actually a pretty simple design, but the reflections and shadows make a huge difference. I love the gradient mesh tool.

Well your vector stuff is really good -- and if you're using photoshop to make them then illustrator shouldn't be too hard for you to learn.

It just takes practice, like anything else. Do you have illustrator? If so, grab a couple of books (one entry level, one advanced) and start playing. I recommend "Illustrator CS Accelerated" to get you started, and either "The Adobe Illustrator CS WOW! Book" or "Illustrator CS Most Wanted" for advanced stuff.
Hey, how do I add you as a friend on here?
