I want to get better at doing these more frequently.

Lots of these doodles were done back in 2019, the majority done when I first got my pen display tablet and was first testing it out, others were done on my touchscreen tablet, a couple when I was trying out IbisPaint on my phone, and the more recent ones are forays into trying to figure out a digital painting and rendering technique but didn't go beyond the initial rough and blocking stages.

I'll try and provide some commentary for the older sketches if I can, but it's been about a year for them so I can't promise much.

Steven Universe Doodles -
Spinel - This one was done in 2019, after the SU Movie released and I had gotten my pen display. At the time, I had gotten really frustrated because I was having trouble trying to force the scythe to follow the line of action and so I dropped it. Spinel is so much fun to draw--she's so rubbery, so it's easy to attempt dynamic posing with her because she can twist and bend any and every which-way.
Spinel and Steven - A couple of months ago, I got the art book for the SU Movie. It was an absolute joy to look through the concept sketches and study Rebecca Sugar's style of concept art. On the back cover of the art book was a sketch by Rebecca Sugar of Spinel and Steven and I really loved it so I did a re-draw of it and also took a whack at coloring it in preperation for a digital painting. Didn't get very far on that end.
Kimono Girl -
Old sketch, as you can see on the date under my signature. I remember that this was a test on both my pen display and Krita as an art program. She looks kind of like Rei from Sailor Moon, but I'm not sure if it's actually her...
Amelia Redesign -
This is exactly what I was hoping for when I did the Daily Character Challenge--to get feedback on the designs and how I could improve them. One such critique came from Kittycat9am . She also drew it, to boot! STA.SH LINK: sta.sh/0xv7cr2noos (Permission had been prior acquired to share the link.) The biggest takeaways I got from it were to shift Amelia's palette to an earthy green and to make her hair more unkempt since she's lazy. Oh, and also she had the idea to make her bangs look more like the jaws of a beetle, so that even though she's a human among a village of animal-looking people, she still has an animalistic trait herself. Thanks, Kittycat! :3
Deltarune Doodles
Kris - My main objective was to try and make Kris fairly androgynous, maybe a tad on the masculine side. I saw somewhere that someone made the underside of Kris' boots red. If I draw them again, I'll be sure to include that little detail, because I love it.
Susie - Head-canon says she's at least two heads taller than Kris. Drawing her mouth full of fangs was pretty fun.
Evangelion Doodles
Another test on rendering that didn't get past the blocking stage. The last doodle of Rei on the bottom was done back in 2019 before I got my pen display tablet.
Taako
I remember doing this quick doodle because I was doing L is for Lup and wanted to whip something up real quick to get an idea of how I wanted to draw her. I'm not really pleased with how Taako turned out, though... :/
Arceus
I think Arceus may be my favorite Legendary Pokemon. This doodle, though, was yet another failed render attempt. Boy there are a lot of these...
Hollow Knight Rendering Tests
Around the same time I got my pen display, I also became a fan of Hollow Knight. If you give me a Dark Fantasy-themed anything, four out of five times I'll get hooked on it.
Harmony Rendering Test
...of course, she wasn't known as "Harmony" back then. Her name used to be "Grace," but I can't remember the reason why I changed it. Anyway, her rendering test is easily the most finished. I don't think it looks good enough to be uploaded on its own, though. So here it is.
Seyshelle Doodle
I had just gotten into Dollightful at the time of doodling this, and I greatly enjoy watching her content. I especially love taking a peek at her concept design process. Six Doodle
Another rendering test. I liked the incorperation of multicolored shadows, but I couldn't figure out where to get started on the actual rendering bit.
Sailor Saturn Doodle
Ah, last one! Sailor Saturn is a character I default to when experimenting with an art program or something. She's a comfort character for me in that regard, and this was another doodle done as an experiment in Krita. At the time, though, I was definitely more intimidated by it than I am now.
PHEW! Quite a bit of stuff there!!

I really don't want to wait another year before I do another non-FNaF related sketchdump or something. While I love FNaF and Lost Souls, I really, really want to draw more than just FNaF. I'll do better at getting re-acquainted with my sketchbook, so hopefully next time I upload one of these sketchdumps it'll be this year!
