You lay in bed, crumpled up tissues lay all around you, 2 quarts of (fav. ice-cream ) lay on your bedside table, now empty. You had been watching sad movies all day, holding a picture of you and Steve close to your chest as you sobbed.

You picked up another tissue and wiped your cheeks with it, drying away a new string of fresh tears as Rose and Jack jumped into the icy water.

'We couldn't get to him in time.'

Those words rang throughout your mind, filling up the space were Steve's love used to be. They couldn't get to him in time? Did they really try? Did The Avengers give the actual time out of the mission to try and save Steve?

Another sob broke free from your throat, making your shoulders shake and a new set of tears to spring in your eyes. You knew you couldn't blame them, it wasn't their fault.

It had been a week since The Avengers came back with one less team member. You had received multiple calls, emails, texts, and letters that had been slipped under the apartment like place you had shared with Steve in Stark Tower.
You knew that it wouldn't be long before they'd try to bust through the door.

But they knew that until then, you needed space, and space is what you received.

You leaned against the bed frame, looking back at all the things you had done with Steve. Tony's birthday party where you had first met, the little Italian restaurant that you had your first date at, the small pond by the little bridge in Central Park where he proposed on Christmas Eve when it was snowing.

How could you live without him? He was the one thing keeping you going each day and not being able to wake up to his sweet little smile ever again...How could you deal with that?

You sniffled and picked up the third and final carton of ice cream, opening it up and grabbing the remote to switch to another sad movie. You turned on one that looked sad and took a bite of the ice cream with your spoon.

As soon as the flavor hit your tongue you felt
a weird sensation hit your stomach and it began to crawl up your throat. You hurriedly tossed the carton and spoon aside and you ran to the bathroom, falling to your knees and emptying the contents of your belly in the the toilet.

~Later that day....~

Your (e/c) eyes were wide with shock and fear as you stared at the little stick in your hand.

The small pregnancy test which you had gotten earlier after your nauseous episode.
And you couldn't believe what it said.

Positive.
