9". X 10.5"This could use a little clean up .... It is from a sketchbook so there was a shadow on the edge .... I didn't do the best job cleaning it up ....

.... I feel like I could answer the inspiration question a million ways.... but any single answer would kind of miss the point...... Most of my patterned work, like this, is fairly automatic. Sometimes I start with some random line or shape and then just let the image grow by reacting and following one line as it connects to the next.... I seem to have a few go-to patterns (like the little swirls) that pop up again and again but for the most part I just kind of go blank and let it happen.
..... I noticed a funny thing though, because outside elements will show up in the patterns as well...and... I don't shut myself off from the world..... I was probably watching TV or listening to music while drawing... I haven't pinned down a specific pattern yet but my drawings will change depending on what surrounds me.
I don't know specifically with this piece what else I was listening to, but I would be curious.
