I imagine an overlapping time-lapse of skeletons fading in and out.
Only the blue one seems corporeal.

...
I like the things you see.
Side note....
The other day I was looking around on your profile...I wrote a long winding comment.... and then accidentally deleted it..... Actually worse than deleting there is this weird bug where sometimes (on the iPad I think ) if I erase a word the cursor just continues to slowly eat everything I have written.... and I just watch it happen.
As I watched it happen, I was like ... oh I remember this ...
Anyway .... long story that I made longer. I will be back and will try to put words to my thoughts again.... but I will bring a lapt top this time.
Looks like you have been doing some amazing stuff.... I was surprised by a few things. It seems that you are very comfortable digitally now. Your work seems natural and like digital is where you want to be... not just a matter of convenience.
.......... any fucking way...... I am babbling...... just didn’t want you to think I was ignoring you.
I started posting again.... but man I am so rusty on keeping up with everything else.
oh ... I know it was a while ago, but why the name change ....sick of dragons?
if this was written poorly or I misspelled anything I am trying to avoid the delete button..... I am just kind of spewing out text in one direction. Yeah......That’s why I can’t form a proper sentence, spell, or organize my concepts. It’s all technology’s fault.

Maybe it's a mechanical problem with your iPad, like a sticky key.
I thought you might be taking an on-line vow of silence, god knows I try from time to time,
but the temptation of babble is too strong ;]
I am getting more used to digital art and figuring out how to achieve desired effects and style.
I'd still like to get back into oils if I had the money to set myself up, so I tell myself, but I wonder
if I would. I think I would.
The name wyrmfed confused too many people, nilwil is at least an abbreviation of my real name.
I thought it might make more sense to potential patrons, but it's a moot point, I'm still not selling much.
I miss wyrmfed and get a little pang of anxiety when I think of the loss. On a lot of forums (dA included),
once a name is used and/or deleted it can't be used again. The problem with nilwil is that I found it has
already been used a bit, I had to add an extra L here to make it legit. I don't like the implication of the name
(as true as it may be) nor the web-wide inconsistency of its versions I use. Blah, blah, blah . . .
I don't know, this whole self-branding thing is causing an identity crisis.

Ok.... I am still writing this on the stupid I pad.... but that’s what’s close right now....
The problem is something I forgot about, but should be able to anticipate. Whenever it happens the text lags behind my typing(....and I am not fast on the keyboard. ) ...So I think I am safe for now. No lag.
Branding is hard for me to wrap my head around.....When I look at my stuff.... it is all over the place. The whole pattern thing kinda makes my style ...? Hmmm unique.... but it seems I have 2 or 3 different groups of ppl looking at my stuff.... For now I think the main two groups are tree ppl and skull ppl.... there is some crossover but I think
sometimes the tree ppl wonder why I draw icky skulls and the skull group lacks the stomach for some of the pretty swirling greeting card friendly trees .... maybe it is in my head.... but then there is an extra wrinkle, I still think of myself as a figurative artist.... but I rarely draw people anymore.
The name Chobek sits pretty well with me.... but even that is a little weird because it is just Joe and Becky combined .... Cho instead of Jo because Jo was taken ... and because we had an instructor that said Joe’s name a little weird .... and it became a running joke.
when I use it here it only refers to me.... but we have used it just for Joe.... and for the combo....There is my real name Rebecca Laughlin... but...there are a lot of them out there.... even other artists.MY Maiden name - Rebecca Kohlhaas is more unique.... but honestly Chobek feels more natural now..... besides Kohlhaas means literally Cabbage Rabbit... and as I have been told, that is a poetic way of saying good for nothing. Actually I’m fine with good for nothing.
Honestly I think one of the biggest questions I have when presenting myself has to do with .... superstition and magic ... I draw from dreams and (I think) my subconscious.... but most viewers see whatever it is they believe in.... I am fine with that ..... but there have been a few points where I feel my viewers would be let down or disappointed it they knew I didn’t personally believe in the things they see. I never lie about it but I walk on a fine line ......I want to make sure I stay true to my own impulses and not intentionally imply any literal magic, ghosts, angels, aliens... witchcraft .... etc. in the shadows...
I wouldn’t want to pretend to hold beliefs that I don’t.
I hope after awhile you feel a better connection to the name you use....I hate hearing that you have lingering regrets.
I the branding thing is tough for a lot of ppl .... I guess it is difficult to encapsulate complex personas with a word or two.
😊

Gosh ..everything's perfect ! Great number of details, awesome colors and i just love the dynamic of this whole piece... amazing work !
LE: just wondering... do you also have trouble with losing some of the values upon photographing?

Thanks 🙂
I am terrible at photographing my stuff ... I don’t think I have ever taken a photo that really worked.....However, fortunately My pieces are pretty small (this is about 9”X 11”) so I am able to scan most things. (I use a cheap hp printer/fax/scanner)
With that , I get good detail.... but some transparencies and colors lack subtlety. I lose a lot of ambiguity..... since I often layer my mark making, that can be a real problem.
.......Another thing that seems to be a factor is the type of pigment used.... For example when I use Copic markers the scanned colors ring very true, but when I use other cheaper pens they will be way off....in both tone and hue.(unfortunately I have a lot of cheap markers 😊)
This piece scanned very cold... I altered it slightly to try and get a bit of the warmth back...... but it is still a bit off. I try to avoid digital manipulation of the color if I can, but sometimes I will step in if it really doesn’t feel right.

Hmm I see... i found that my camera(the cheapest nikon dslr, 3100 one) gives more decent transparency in works rather than any scanner i have used... but i have real issues with the same things you've mentioned.. Even my last work needed 30 minutes of edit and its values are still a bit off...
I think digital manipulation is not an issue when they're done in order to correct the problems of light/sharpness/etc .. If i get passed that level of just trying to make it very accurate then i usually call it a digital work too..
Wonderful comment and explaining by the way.. It's unfortunate that we all have the same issues but at least we know that the traditional works look even better in real life so.. as long as we keep that in mind i guess we're all fine
I haven't really worked with markers even though i have a set(not copics.. graph'it ) and the only time i took a picture of the drawing i remember i had real issues with the way it looked compared to reality..
Wishing you a lovely weekend !
