Wow! Always love to see artists who do things I am pretty sure I wouldn't have the patience for! Very striking!

LOL
it isn't quite patience.... it is something a little more draining and soul stealing (obsession)

...but I'm OK with it

I think I will be giving Yggdrasil a shot one of these days ... I keep practicing on all the pieces separately , so I can be more natural when I get there.... I was thinking of Huginn and Muninn with all of the crow/ raven  drawings a few weeks ago.
Next I guess I should look at stags.... and a squirrel ???

you're obviously steeped in norse mythology, I like that...  Huginn and Muninn were in my mind too, having recently attended a heathen festival...  And yes, I agree, it's time Ratatoskr the squirrel made an appearance!  I think the way you draw trees as if they're blood vessels or neurological systems is particularly appropriate to the way these myths act as psychological archtypes.

I love to read Mythology in  general ... but Norse is one of my favorites. I also like Sumerian/ Babylonian stuff... and Russian Fairy Tales.....

My favorites story, or at least the one I think of most,  is always the... Binding of Fenris.... Tyr betraying Fenrir bothers me ... and I think about it often. The mix of sacrifice and dishonesty makes my stomach churn.... This may sound silly but I enjoy the images of Tyr with his hand in the beasts mouth because it is the last moment of connection between the two, and I almost feel like there is a chance Tyr will decide not to go through with it.

.... I am never sympathetic when he loses his hand ... it seems like he deserves it ... or at the very least he paid a price he expected to pay.

heathen festival? Sounds interesting

.... I can't find the other response I wanted to reply to ... but about the Lovecraft.... I plan to keep going with it .... I have not gotten far.... but I will, I have been drawing a lot .... usually drawing and reading share the same drive slot. I started with" the Tomb" because it was chronologically first ... no other reason really I plan on reading everything eventually.

I'm delving into the sagas - and the mabinogion a little bit, for an art project (might be a little less bondage and whipping in this one lol)   - mythology is wonderful, psychologically rich soil where things grow into weird shapes, that's what I see in your work.  I must read the story of Tyr again, having hailed him with a horn of mead at that festival recently, I really ought to know all that stuff

I hope you're enjoying Lovecraft's lunacy enough to continue;  he comes closer than most writers to evoking an existential horror which can be quite exhilarating and mind-expanding.  But of course it is also preposterous, and I don't mind that either.  I think "The Shadow over Innsmouth" is my favourite, partly because it reads more like a thriller.
