Maybe this is the Sanctuary Moon of Endor..... not Jupiter

Weird synchronicity, the split second I looked at this and read the title, the woman on the show I'm watching (Ancient Aliens) mentioned Jupiter.

... there are no coincidences.... LOL
Before posting I lost what I wrote on White Wood.... so I will try again....
“White Wood” is the pen drawing for this one... I have been taking early pics of everything lately because I have been pivoting in strange directions when I move to the finishing stages of my drawings...
the before and after results have been so dissimilar that they feel like different pieces...(Also, I seem to like the early black and white best, so I want A record of that stage)
Any way .... you asked I ever drew birch trees.... and the simple answer is yes......... but the more convoluted answer is I don’t draw real trees.
A long fucking time ago I set up a challenge for myself that I would draw 100 drawings with a tree or tree part in it.... By my count I am barely over the halfway point..... www.deviantart.com/chobek/gall…
However, when I was about a quarter way into the project I did a bunch of sketches from life I drew specific trees ... and worked from observation. The experience of drawing and the look of the real trees felt so different, it was startling.... (I did not include the rendered sketches in the 100 count)
For the project I wanted to explore the obsession I have had with drawing trees.... and I just wasn’t obsessed with the more realistic observational drawings.... so I went back to my pattern trees..... because I want to understand my impulses.
The things that push me are tactile impressions and concepts of branching and reaching.... kind of, how I feel about trees rather than specifics of breed branching patterns , light or leaf structure.....
with this the skin of the tree and the knot in the bark reminded me of the eye on Jupiter, with swirling gas colliding with a sort of focal point.
It sounds weird to me writing it out and formalizing the thoughts.... but that’s what I was thinking as I made thousands of little dots

You should see the pivots I make. When I get a computer that can handle it, I'd like to start recording my whole process.
My paintings can go from a landscape to a naked woman to a robot portrait to a tuna sandwich all in one sitting :]
I think you mentioned your tree project to me before. Have you taken a recent count? My trees from imagination are much different than referenced ones. The imaginary ones actually make more sense in my head. Real trees area usually much more chaotic than I expect. I suspect we are in agreement on this point. Maybe not.
The swirls and the colors are definitely "Jupiteresque".

Ahhhhh! I think I counted 53.... this project sucks..... (I realize I am the one in control here)
i am trying to keep it loose and do other things as well, to make it less ....taxing ???.... but I thought I hit 50 a while ago, I thought I was at least at 60..... I thought maybe I would be surprised whenI counted 75.... but ....
that is not the case.....
fuck.
Digital art splintered my mind a million different ways .... I know exactly what you mean! Seems like you get a lot out of following the different threads though.... I like seeing the batches of themes and feelings that you post.... Digital immediacy seems to suit you.
That said,
I remember your pen and ink work... there was a tree specifically that you drew that I think of often. Especially when I feel like my branches and lines are too stiff...... your tree was whispy and swirling and fluid ..... and I try to make myself loosen up a bit.
