I often design characters who have armor incorporated into their outfits, including metal-lined fabrics and leather armor under skirts.  And then there's what I call Anti-Rape devices. 

Get your mind outta the gutter.  I'm talking Chasity Belts that the character puts on herself, keeping the key around her neck, just in case.
