Well actually, I don't ship these two.
The primary reason for people shipping this pair though, is the high amounts of cultural and economic trade between the two countries. I mean, we have a lot of Kpop, Kdrama, Korean students and workers, business etc here in the Philippines. There's also a history from back in the Korean war (though honestly, I doubt people recognize it...also the Philippine's role that time was small, since we were plagued by our own issues during those years.
My reason for not shipping this is that I consider Korea as this, "local Asian Imperialist" considering the influence they have over the culture and economics in my country. Like, know local businesses go bankrupt because Korean businesses are given more opportunity (like, almost no taxes, consider that it's a foreign owned business), local performing arts that are left o rot because kpop and drama sells more. Not to mention that once I went to an indigenous community in Subic, Philippines were the locals are facing eviction because some Korean company bought it to make a resort or something.
Of course, I still consider that Korea helps the country economic-wise. I mean, yes it is sad that there are sectors being neglected but with the current state of society, Korea is a valuable ally. It's just that my political awareness keeps me from just blindly shipping this pair (or any other pair, to be honest) just because of the Korean craze here in the Ph.

Hmm....the OC here is not mine. My main philippines OC is actually a dude (JCpilipinas )
Philippines' sexuality isn't really an issue for me, I mean, sexual organs doesn't really define anything.
But I guess the femininity of the Philippines stems from our culture:
1. Females in our pre-colonial society are held with high regards. But when the colonizers came, they enforced their ideas of women being the "Maria Clara" type (quiet, mild and submissive) this could be a metaphor on how the once powerful and free country of ours became submissive due to the oppression of colonial powers.
2. in multiple historical literature, the country has been referred to as "Inang bayan" (motherland) so yeah, why not.
3. Like, really, we respect mothers like hella here.
anyway...that's it... at least, those are the reasons i can think of at the moment
