I get the feeling that when these two meet in prison, they'll team up because they both blame Rapunzel and Corona for separating them from their fathers. And while I'd much rather see Varian make friends with a human who will have a much better influence on him and give him real comfort instead of making him want to have revenge even more, I decided I kind of like the idea of Varian and Lady Caine teaming up. For one, Lady Caine knows what it's like to be separated from a loved one and have the whole kingdom against her, so he'll at least have someone who somewhat understands what he's going through. The other reason is sort of sad, but also kind of cool. It's possible that she and her gang of criminals might possibly become Varian's actual henchmen (he's obviously a mastermind, so he's got to have henchmen and not just robots). Don't get me wrong, Varian being a villain is totally upsetting, but on the bright side, he makes a really cool one! And the thought of him having henchmen that are years older than him is kinda legit.
Over all, I hope that him being friends with Lady Caine won't have too much of an influence on him and he'll still get redemption (and hey! Maybe he'll even persuade Lady Caine to have redemption, too!) Most of all, I hope that Ruddiger will stay right by his side all the while so he'll always have that small connection to the good side, which is why I've included his faithful, furry companion in this drawing.
