I didn't used to have all that much respect for photography 'cause i thought "how hard could it be to take a picture of something that is naturally beautiful". Something like this though is what gave me that appreciation 'cause i now realize that not everyone will see the potential for a photo-op.
Anyway, i like the natural contrast between the snow and dark stairs; i also like the symmetry.

Well, to tell you the truth I thought the same way. Having studied art and music, I always thought there should be a process involved and some kind of effort put in besides "click". But, like most people, my knowledge of the process was extremely limited, I would say, "Anyone can do that", but after years of doing it, I have found its not always so easy haha, to do it well anyhow.
And of course photography is the bastard child of the art world for that reason. We are spoiled these days with the automatic everything that cameras give us, but trust me, there is so much involved, that without that automation, I would say 90% of photographers out there would have to relearn their craft.
The only limitation is that which you put on a specific medium, some stick to realism as some artists do, others take a different view, here are some good examples of what I mean

Fantastic and beautiful..! It'll be one of the very special photos in my fav list. I love snow but there is also something except snow which impress me..
I've followed you since fews of years as you know my friend. So, I think you were already talented then you've become a great photographer in time. And you'll be great artist whose achievements will be memorable.. I'm sure about that.
