Description
Here's the actual thingThis isn't really a tutorial, just an incredibly brief overview of the process. I like seeing these kinds of things myself so I thought I'd post. I'm thinking of making an actual tutorial for some aspect of drawing, would anybody be interested in that? Comment if you'd like to see anything in particular.

How do you color like this? Or what brushes do you use?

Thanks
Just a random assortment of brushes that come with sketchbook pro 7. I believe one is an airbrush.

hey so choppy, what program are you using for your art? I realized it's cartoony but yet looks so god damn professional. I need to learn how to draw like this, instead of just using flash and it's wobbly pencil brush. haha

Thank you!! I use Autodesk Sketchbook Pro 7. It's nice because it's solely for drawing and it has brushes that are very customizable. Wow I can't believe you use Flash to draw - I can recognise that your drawings were done in flash now that you mention it, but I never really noticed because you always make them look so pretty.

ALRIGHT!! I gotta get that program.
AAAAnd. gettin' it right now!!
Its been so long, I think I forgot how I did stuff so refined in flash, I think I zoomed in a BUNCH to get those really thin lines. But I'mma be using this program now! I HELLA love the look, flow, colors, and everything in your art. I'm excited to see what I can do in it.
This whole past month, I haven't been able to find my wacom pen. And I won't. So I been puttin off spending money to get a new one.
but TONIGHT I BUY. Because you made me realize. my dumbass NEEDS TO DRAW. Haha thanks Choppy!

Hey, just wanted to ask how you you get such clean lineart. That's one thing that I really need working on.
Thanks!
Ps,
I love the colours in your work, they go well together.

Thank you!
Okay, of course regular practice is always going to have a wonderful effect on your skills, but there are some things you can focus on to help you feel more confident with line work, particularly when it comes to working digitally. First off, I see you recently got a tablet, that's excellent. Using the tablet may seem odd for a while, it took me about 6-12 months to fully get used to it, I felt like giving up often, but now it feels totally natural. I don't know what your practice schedule is like, but if you're not already working on things you want more stability with regularly every day, give that a go. If you already are, that's great, just keep at it.
- Achieving clean line work when using a tablet can be made easier if you zoom right in, the bigger and thicker the lines the easier it will be. Gradually over time try to work further away from the canvas and use thinner lines. (This is also the case when working traditionally with thick pencils or felt-tips.)
- Get comfortable with using softer, more pencil-like brushes for line art, these are easy to use and once you are confident you can move on to harder, more defined brushes.
- Avoid using any tools like rulers to get particular straight or curved lines, this wont help you if you are trying to improve in that area. These sorts of tools can be very useful, but only once you feel like you're already confident with drawing line art.
- Do lots of sketching and planning before you draw the finished line art, don't go ahead until you have a clear idea in your mind of what it's going to look like. As you progress you will feel less dependence on the sketches, but that is a gradual process.
These things work for me, but I am still learning myself. You will learn what works best for you through trial and error. Overall you must be patient, but never expect these skills to fall into your lap, you need to work for them. Enjoy the process.
I hope this helps, if you want me to elaborate on anything that's fine.

oTk, this was more than enough advice and motivation for me
.
Thankyou so much for the great advice, as you saw my line art was terrible but I'm practicing now and hopefully these methods improve the quality of my lineart.
Even though lineart is sometimes hidden, it does change the look of the overall artwork.
Once again, thanks for the advice/help!

No problem! I had some time on my hands so I thought I'd might as well pour out everything I know, I hope I didn't overwhelm you haha.
Your line work isn't terrible, you're doing really well, you have a good eye for colour too so those things will go well hand in hand.
