Description
I'M IMPROVING! Here is the first pic I ever drew of Ankah (warning, may make your eyes bleed): [link] She's a sabre tooth tiger who was born into a military-based culture. At 16 all young sabres had to join the Army and do 2 years National Service. Ankah found that she had a knack for command, and her intelligence ensured that she rose quickly through the ranks. By her mid-20s she was the commander of a company, but had lost her heart to a young male sabre from the enemy's army. He was killed in a battle, and Ankah dropped out of the military the next day. She became a mercenary and because she had so little to live for, was reckless, making her a highly dangerous warrior. She became one of the highest-sought mercenaries in the country, gaining many enemies along the way...

This pic is part of a quasi-storyboard focused around the battle of her lover's death.
Part 1: here
Part 2: [link] (drawn a while back)
Part 3: [link]
They're all drawn in different styles & out of order, sorry about that

-------

A new day was dawning, but the morning was slowly getting darker. Behind the mountains, angry black storm clouds were gathering. They would be overhead before noon.
Ankah watched a pennant snapping in the breeze, thinking about Reg: she was worried that in the heat of battle, they would not recognise each other. And even if they did, would they have the self-control to stop? Blood-lust was a dangerous gift.
The armies were well-matched. It would be a difficult battle, but Ankah could only sit and watch the fluttering pennant.

Sorry for the uber-long description!

This is amazing. You have definitely improved and I love love love the shading on this. This is such a gorgeous character and I adore her backstory. I honestly can't find anything wrong. The only thing that I would change is the fur around the color sohuld be a bit more fluffy and upturned. Other than that I think it perfect!!!!!!!

Woo - I've heard of them, where are they?

They are tar pits where large animals, mainly in the Pleistocene Era, would become trapped and die. Tar pits where covered with a thin covering of water, hiding the tar underneath. Let's say a large mammal such as a mammoth is thirty. It wades in up to it's knees and drinks its fill. When it turns to go it finds it is unable to move and eventually dies. Carnivores and scavengers are attracted to the carcass and when they run in to get it they too get stuck. After a while the bones sink into the tar pit and are preserved.
