i think it should have been explained that they would have seperate bodies and two arms and legs each...

It would be actually traumatizing for both and it would be nearly impossible for them to do anything, (are they also connected at the legs, as in both sides have one leg) and they'd be in near constant medical care due to the fact that they'd need another heart and other organs to live and they'd be in wheel chairs before robotic limbs are put on. Basically it would not be a good idea to do that realistically.

I'm guessing at some point early in her life, Splish's head was cut off and due to the whole "two heads grow back in place of the one that was cut off", Splash was born.
