The meme Pepe the frog is a Hate symbol according to the anti Defamation league because a group of people were using it in some pretty offensive ways.

I know, i'm pretty sure if you googled a specific cartoon character and the word "Nazi" next to it and hit the images button you'd see images of the characters probably wearing a Nazi uniform. By the Anti-Defamation League's logic that should constitute making the cartoon character a hate symbol.
(i'm probably going to be labelled some buzzword now...)
