Lucky! I haven't been lucky enough to be around the birds at sunset or sunrise.

Thanks! We were on a guntruck mission to this base and I happened to step out of the chow hall just in time to see the sun was going down so I grabbed a HMMWV and headed up to the flightline. Just so happened that this was sitting on one of the taxi-ways off to the side.

Awesome! I'm hoping to be able to get some shots like this one when I get back to the larger base.

LOL Well, at least Bragg had decent facilities! My last active duty station was Polk!

I haven't heard too much about Polk. Dealing with 82nd in a deployed environment has me fearing ever getting stationed at Bragg with them. I'd rather join the SOCOM community.

Well, you've got both at Bragg! The best thing about that base is that they have 3 PX's and you're just a couple hours from Myrtle Beach.

That is such a strange state. Awesome beaches and eye candy in the summer. Elderly people in the winter. And if you go 20 miles inland from any large city you would think you were in the back woods of Georgia!

Haha, too true. We always get the strangest snowbirds in my area as well. It's always funny to see the northerners walking around in shorts and tank tops while the locals are bundled in sweatshirts because it's sixty degrees!

Thanks! I got really lucky with this one. Happened to step outside the tent and saw the sun going down so grabbed the camera and the nearest HMMWV (humvee) and got up to the flightline just in time to snap this shot.

no problem. i'm still a civilian and keep a camera with me 24/7 and in about a year plan on joining the forces up here in Canada and plan on keeping a camera with me all the time too, you never know what cool photo op's you'll find anywhere.

No doubt. The hard part is knowing when to stop being involved in the training and when to start documenting it!

yes that is true...im having a hard time deciding between image tech(photographer) and infantry...both look like very rewarding careers, its a tough choice.

This is a damn fine photograph. I'm also a huge aviation fan, so a chopper is an added bunus
And thank you for your service

Thanks! I had been in my tent when I saw the sun and the helicopter at the other end of the flightline. I grabbed the Humvee and raced down there just in time to capture this pic and one other. Think I may have to post it now too.
