Description "We've seen a few of these pop up, usually in the Great Wilderness. You can see here especially on the trigger guard where some of our influence from modern platforms come from. Yeah, we were quite fond of that circular design even back then. Sorry? Oh right. Even though we don't have an exact date on this particular model, judging from the style and maybe even the breaking action here, my guess is that this one dates I would think between 2820 and 2900. I know that seems like a pretty big gap but we have to remember that when the Dark Ages hit, they hit hard, and some of the nations of the planet, even the relatively advanced Kingdom of Acorn had a regression in tech. Nowadays a self-loading firearm is no big deal, even during the ban of the 3220s. Back then, they were exceptionally harder to find and were never really produced; for instance, some of the Terra Novan colonist weapons were maintained for a time before production ramped up at halfway between the 28th Century where more accurate records were kept.

So, this particular one is chambered in .45-75, which is why I'm leaning more towards the 2900s. Now, this particular one was meant for paper cartridges you could just slide in to the chambers through the gate on either side of the cylinder, or an operator could break open the action like so with a push of this button, and slide the cylinder off and replace it with a full one. So, yeah, paper cartridges burned up on being fired. There was never a way to extract them in the original design, but there are conversions made where you could slip in a more solid cartridge. Those ones we think started appearing around 2920 or so. You could slip in a 45 Long Colt for instance and it would work. There isn't an extractor rod for it though; it was never designed for one. Paper cartridges remember?

So, we have a single action hammer. Archaic, especially for Human designed weapons in the modern era, but fairly common during the Dark Ages where more advanced firearm technology never reached the masses. There is no decocking mechanism, so make sure to make the weapon safe by keeping your thumb on the hammer while pulling the trigger. The safety is a ten pound trigger pull.

Last thing about this one: Note the marking here on the side. We think that this was designed by one of the great Armorer Houses of the Dark Ages. These houses have fallen out of public record but these were fairly powerful families that had manufacturing deals with the Kingdom and as a result had fiefdoms associated with their production facilities. This one itself belongs to the Armories of House Cordell, noted by the infinity with a crown over it. House Cordell always liked paying fealty to the Kingdom in the era and as such made sure to venerate the crown - as indicated by the obvious symbolism - the eternal kingdom. Sorry? What's that; didn't hear it?

House Cordell died out some time back. Most of the Armorer Houses did. People rise and fall in power and it's clear the Armorer Houses were a phenomenon of the Dark Ages - like an early industrial revolution in 19th Century England back on Earth for you guys. Yes I know about that; my dad had a book on Edmund Blake. Anyhow, the Dark Ages ended, technology seeped back into the Great Wilderness and the Kingdom by extension, and people went on to create far more efficient means of killing each other from then on out."
