Description
A relatively small Calais-class corvette at only 170 meters, the Dawnrunner, like many "small boys" her size has the ability for atmospheric flight using stubby control surfaces, though instead of lift on these small wings, the strong thrust output of her Eastinghouse 927 Fusion Rockets gives the necessary power to stay in the air alongside the relatively standard graviton manipulation system for hovering and landing. In space, a light coil provides some output capability alongside two arrays of on-bore pulse lasers to intercept missiles and small craft at range. 25mm Rampart PDCs allow for emergency close-in weapons fire. For atmospheric operations, these cannons can provide close fire support for ground troops.

Her compliment is light at only 57 sailors in addition to a full platoon of Marines for security and groundside engagement. A single Pelican dropship can ferry the whole platoon if necessary to a groundside or shipboard operation, though standard protocol is to go in waves.

Built in 3210 and commissioned a year later, Dawnrunner hasn't seen much in the way of combat, instead being relegated to intrasystem policing action in Sol, typically finding herself orbiting either Mars or Earth. Much of the crew considered this to be "border patrol" where most action was related to stop and search procedures of cargo ships with expired trade licenses from the major guilds, though the ship was indeed involved in one major skirmish over Ceres in 3233 with a band of pirates looking to smuggle fissile material to a black market cell based in the asteroid belt. She supported the UNSC Consecutive Hits and UNSC Optimus in this combat engagement and sustained only light damage, leading to her commanding officer, Milos Brasic to receive a commendation.

In 3234 following the opening of the Jumpgate to EUS 0 following the safe return of the UNSC Indomitable. She was quickly moved to a new type of policing action on the Mobius side of the Jumpgate, being reassigned to a flotilla there. Brasic continued to captain the Dawnrunner; his long service leading to him becoming known as the "Don" of the 'Runner, with his Executive Officer Lieutenant Commander Otis DiSantos being considered the "Underboss". Brasic has failed to exterminate this terminology and has learned to accept it.

In 3240, The Dawnrunner was dispatched to the outer reaches of the Aurora system, the unofficial title for Mobius' home, to its outer reaches to intercept an unknown object that had been in space for an extremely long time.
