Description
So I guess I'm doing this ass-backwards, so here's the the WIP of the already finished Capital... ([link] ).I started this image with a top view and side view, like any standard architectural drawing, and ended up having to use a wacky home-brewed system to generate a perspective view from that without it getting all distorted like a typical 2 point perspective image gets. The process I used for that might be worth a blog entry one day...
I spent about 6 or 7 months on this stage. (well, occasionally I let it sit for a few weeks when I got bored

Wow.. the wip makes me appreciate the finished work even more. Especially knowing how much thought went into it. You make architecture begin to seem very very interesting.

It's interesting to work backwards in my head from the eventual product I must echo my admiration of your patience for putting so much effort into this -- I would have just charged ahead and given up after a couple of weeks. Probably need to work on that aspect of my personality, or at least learn to make it work for me
Anyway, thanks for posting this!

I really admire your patience to be able to work on this for 7 months! I would've quit after a few weeks :S
Just a question: what are those diagonal lines connecting the bridges with the main building for? I don't see them back in your shaded drawing, are they some sort of construction lines?
Anyways, it's a truly great drawing =] I'm in awe of your detailing skills

good question originally they were suppose to be tension cables that held the bridges up. Later I decided they just got in the way, so I left them out of the final version, and hoped that nothing fell down...

I'm glad you left them out, I think the builiding looks more interesting being made only out of stone :]
