Heh, I don't know if this picture would have much use as an actual emoticon, but it looks really good, I love the concept. It would probably make a fine avatar for someone.
The umbrella could perhaps use some more work, the metallic beams might be too hard to include, but the tip at the top would make it look more umbrella-like.
