The young and weary warrior, not yet past forty winters, trudges to the center of the thicket-like expanse of the forest. His heart skips a beat when he at first misses the face, her face, and catches it with his eyes in a double-take.Β
His words are spoken quickly out of both fear and impatience. "I have heard your embrace is softer than death. I have heard-" His voice breaks. "That your touch can remove all pain and memory."
The aged plant tilts her head, silently examining his soul. Slowly, almost lazily, she reaches out a tendril of vine towards his face. The vine catches a tear as it falls from his cheek. Branches reach out lovingly and curl gently around his ankles, his waist, his arms, his neck, drawing him closer to the heart of the near immortal.Β
A moment later it is as if the warrior never existed. The tree is still, faceless.
A voice whispers, both mocking and loving in tone, its source unknown: Whoever told you I was kinder than death?.....I am death itself.....and you have come to me...

are you familiar with Dante's inferno?Β and the trees of suicides.
if not I kinda see this as the heart of the woods.Β The sentient center that controls it all.

No joke but your art style is amazing and perfect for a story I have been working on for years. How long does a piece take you? Would you ever create an image based on a description?

Yeah I understand. It is time consuming and I understand if you never get around to it but if you do here is one of my descriptions. There are a lot of unique and cool things in my story but this was the one description that was easily accessible.
()Lif the Primordial is essentially the axis mundi of the Age of Darkness mythology. Lif is a colossal tree that is so large it is seen from nearly any distance and reaches all the way to the heavens. Souls of the deceased travel long distances to get to Lif and are guided to Empyrean through Lif. As more souls use Lif to reach the afterlife, Lif's trunk, leaves, and entire structure glow bright, illuminating the land around it. This is the reason the City of Halandoria was created and structured in a circle
around the tree.
If you ever get around to making some sort of image based on this description please message me! And is there a way to follow people on deviantart? I want to follow you

Isn't it a Bed of Chaos from Dark Souls? I mean... yes, it's different, but ideas are quite similiar. Or they seem to be, at least...
Anyway, great artwork. Stunning... and kinda creepy (;

That looks amazing, but all I can think of is the Bed of Chaos from Dark Souls. Probably my least favorite video game boss of all time.

When I saw this thumbnail I thought she was a "mother of forest" entity. Beautiful colors.

I'm sensing a connection to the Bed of Chaos boss from Dark Souls, though that's because I just beat the game. Amazing piece!

"...And thus the man walked up to the evil bitch of the tree..."
This is pretty amazing, and the lighting on the dryad (is it a dryad?) makes it look sinister.

This is absolutely wild! I don't know whether to be creeped out, or to feel that this is some good dryad thing of nature! I see jungle in the background, and the blue light makes it seem friendly, yet I am terrified to look at it! Nice work!

I love this concept! The idea that even though they now have eternal life, is it really life?

it took me a sec to see the female in this
to me this has some symbolism of the females existence in the man's life and the man with his pose of his head down appears to be at a confrontational point of which perhaps made him weary

Just curious how you are coloring this: Are you creating the whole piece in black and white, then doing color layers with layer effects? Or are you doing the whole piece in color?
