A black creature ... Red curtains ... the brown background ... !
It REALLY reminds me of "Prince of Persia: Warrior Within" !!!

But still a awesome Picture!
The whole arrangement of the scene and the colors are just on Point!
Fantastic work!

I can imagine how this guy just sort of walked into the room and realized to late.

'Oh, damn. I tore it all up with my great big horns again. Yep. What to do??'

really like this picture
the vibrant reds, the detailed armor/ skin of the demon, the small extra details of the fabric and the extra depth of the background to the right
very strong picture and very strong composition

just wondered a bit, as I saw some of your live sessions, do you start from the bright reds then moving to the sides?
and build the armor from the bright parts to the lowest?

i had a black and white sketch of this at first, with no color. Something like this: cdnb.artstation.com/p/assets/i…
the reds were a later addition.
So once you have a sketch you can drop the color on top of everything at the same time, but generally yes the highlighted areas like the detailed part of the shoulder and whatnot is usually what comes first because it´s the focal point and more important.

thank you very much for the comment
then, did you plan this picture before, with an idea in mind? because in twitch I saw you improvising a lot
did  you use line sketches before the stage of black& white tones?

thank you, again, appreciate your comments

That sketch i linked was pretty much how it came out right away, so little to no line art or anything like that. I kinda had the idea that it would be a demon and more or less centered composition, but the rest is still improvisatory, i mean it´s not an overly complicated image.
Most stuff on stream and just personal speedpaintings/sketches are improvised to a degree or may change mid-way, also because they have to be somewhat quick, so sometimes i just don´t have time to do specific things and i end up going with a different approach.
The things i do plan beforehand or have a strong idea before i even sketch it, those images become rather big and long paintings that i try to polish quite a bit more than the usual. The approach can be whatever, but yeah i sketch extensively if i feel like i have a good idea in mind, 3-4 quick sketches to figure it out before i decide on how it will go.

now you got me interested more about how would a more polished work of yours will look,
is it more like - CastleWorld 6 ?
or also like - Serpent Mistress ?
this two seems like it got some more details into

great weekend to you

ChrisCold In reply to NadavYacobiPhotos [2017-04-21 11:11:35 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, those two are somewhat more detailed, the castle world stuff i usually sketch out and have quite detailed sketches to rely on so there isnt that much improvisation along the way. The serpent one i changed a lot, and it was more of a speedpainty thing on the road until i came home and put more time into it, that´s also why it´s more detailed.

I´m gonna post another castle world pic later today, with some step-by-step process. You can check it out if you´re interested in how the sketching and things in the middle look.

Damn, the movement you created with those red strokes is incredible.
For some reason this piece is very soothing to me, and tells a very interesting story

Really really like this one

Extremely interesting piece of art. Unlike most of the comments though I am not going to focus on your technique or composition (I'm not a painter, have absolutely no idea about this things) However what's impressive in your painting is the connection of title-paiting. Makes you wanna search for the deep philosophy behind it. Where is the monarch? Is he killed by the demon or is it the demon itself? I kinda think it's the second one. And then we have the realization what was the price the monarch paid for all that expensive and stunning silk (for instance) which is, most importantly, Red - a famous royal color. The best thing in the painting (except for the tile that explains and glue things together) is the tender gesture the demon is making when touching the fabric although it can never really feel the touch due to its armor and demon-like hand. Impressive. Though I am interested how much of this did you actually thought when making this piece?
