Wassup PEOPLES!*LEINIL YU DREW THIS, NOT ME* just to make sure y'all know.
Well, i love coloring alot, and the more that i lear, and establish a style for myself, the more i want to do it, so, theres the backdrop for that one.
With that, here is a Lone Wolf and Cub piece done by the AMAZING Leinil Yu. I should say that i found the Inked version here on DA inked by who did a pretty stellar job if i might say so myself.
Yeah i still have a lot to learn, and i know that theres alot that i could do with this one, which i will do, and mybe post it, but i was so excited to share it that i didnt bother to do those things, lol.
Umm, yeah this took about 3 hours, and i used Photoshop CS, OpenCanvas, and PAINTER (lots-o-programs, lol).

Man I love that series, hey have you checked out samurai executioner, and path of the assassin. I'm a huge fan of Kazuo Koike's work.

yea just set up a light source and go to work...remember the relative planes get the same amount of light...you have a nice start ..go crazy...

what up bro? it's funny cuz, before i read teh description, i was like this doesn't look like chris. and after i read the description i was like that doesn't look like leinil. the inks are solid though. i dig the colors alot, but they seemed alittle flat at first glance. might just be the monitor, i'm checking this out from a laptop and you know how that goes. tilt your head one way and shit is solid, tilt it the other and you feel like you've wasted your time. but great work non the less. keep it movin' brah!

Yeah the more that i look at it, the lighting and highlighting are a little too safe you know, i feel like i need to go and be a little more dangerous with the color selection, i'll post and updated version using the critiques that i recieved, thanks for the compliment though man, PEACE!

nice work but there is something wrong with the boy's face his arms are slightly bigger than it supposed to be and the sward direction doesn't seem right to me though its briliant man !! love your work rock on

wow awesome work man, but after comparing it to your HIM work I like your stuff better I mean leinil is awesome with the pencil and I love his work in new avengers but theres somthing about the way u draw that I just like better. Why are u not working for marvel?

well i have say that u have to practice. Looks like u know the volumes, but u need contrast to show them out. Your brushes looks a bit "aleatory" and that makes the forms unclear.
Use more than 3 tones, and try to ignore black and white.Use greens, blues and reds for the skin; be artistic in this aspect
Well u can also see a lot of refrences here in DA, look at the galleries of your favorites colorists and get inpired.

Your pretty good at coloring.. I don't know what it is but it looks like your colors are old, if that makes sense you. know those old pictures of samurai? Its like that dark colors nothing to bright.. Idk if you are getting all that but i like the colors a lot...Oh how Splash uses very vibrant bright colors you use dark colors i guess hard to explain haha Well NICE WORK!

Lone wolf And cub. Greatest single Series in samurai fiction. I hear the original writer and a new artist are continuing from where the manga ends. Awesome drawing btw
