A somehow crude and somehow romantic depiction of a Teutonic Knight with horned “Gran helmet” holding a medieval version of the Danish axe. It was meant to be used for cover art for a book about the Teutonic Order. Unfortunately, as I examined it, I noticed that the brooches of his cloak and the bronze ornaments of the helmet and the blowing horn looked very “shiny” and therefore were in high contrast with the historical concept of simple and modest appearance of a true crusader. A true “knight of the cross” is modest and humble. He wears only the orders garments and pure steel. Gold, jewels or even shiny bronze are forbidden. So I made another version of the character and kept this one for my archive to be used with modifications in historical fiction comic…
