Description
Hypothetic lifeforms on an Earth-like planet orbiting a Red Dwarf star. The dim sun is only 20 million kilometers away. At such close distance, the star's tidal forces have halted the planet's rotation already eons ago. On the planet, there is one hemisphere of perpetual daylight and another hemisphere of continual darkness. Climate model simulations suggest that a dense atmosphere may effectively distribute heat between the two hemispheres, rendering the surface of the planet decently habitable.

In this scenario, strange lifeforms have found a foothold within the twilight zone between the day- and nightside, under a sun which will never set. These creatures use different photopigments than Earth plants, enabling them to utilze most of the available light emanating from the dim star. Most photosynthetic leaves are black. Other creatures join into the food web, making the best out of the situation.

This is indeed a strange and alien world.
