They are tuned GDG, so anybody can play them They have a sliding bridge for fine tuning
I wish I could make them faster, but I like to take my time as each one is unique in shape and sound. Kind of like a banjo/ukulele mix.
Happy that you like them. If you ever order one I will make it a Hawaii special!Β

Thank you, you are very kind to say my friend They are much fun to make, and a real kick to play by a campfire. We took a basic stick dulcimer and made it wider, deeper and longerΒ and also make them one at a time by hand. Have a great day

Tom ordered that one in the middle I do believe it arrives at his house today
The darker colors are awesome in person my friend. TheΒ harder tones come from the spruce tops where as the walnut seems to soften the sound
I like the sounds produced by all of them so far
The grains of the wood are what intrigue me most.
Thank youΒ

We used some really old varnish/finish recipes from the 1800s and incorporated them into the finishes on these. Although we did leave one dulcimer alone and added no color just a few clear coats and it looks super, you can see the lines of the wood interact as they travel Very exciting, and I could ramble all night
Thank you Cher

What do you think of the finished product? I was going to take a pic of all 10 completed instruments, but they sold so quick I only have shots of them in different stages, and not all together like I wanted for a good pic They are a simple but detailed project to make and I really enjoyed building them with Dave here in the shop. My cat likes the sound they make and she is pretty smart
Thank you Helen!!!

The shape was modified from the original design we found, we made it longer and wider and have a different system for the tuners and bridge. It is a nice feeling when you work hard on something and it actually comes out good usually everything goes the opposite for me. I have foundΒ awesome support in this community for these instrumentsΒ for sure.

Dave is left handed and he plays these just fine. All you will have to do is change the top string to the bottom and bottom string to the top if need be
