well, correctly known as The Fallen, they were according to legends/myths, Angels that fell from grace at the hands of Demons, having their wings ripped from their bodies in battle, thus losing their power. this supposedly led to a massive hatred of life, as the once mighty beings were now pathetic, and while some went on to become humans, and mingle with human society, others devolved into monsters, possesing the power of an Angel, but the ferocity and murderous intent of a Demon. the Angels and Demons realized the severity of this new threat, and supposedly sealed a truce to kill these creatures, which exists still to this day. it, supposedly, is why Angels and Demons do not openly wage war in our time.
basically, The Fallen are Angels that became very Demonic...and extremly Evil. their are, according to the legends, but a handfull that survived the initial assault of the combined armies of Heaven and Hell...
also, i am a Shintoist, so i dont believe the stories, but its still interesting no?
