"What's this?" I hear you say, "That's not Star Trek, it's Battlestar Galactica!".
To which I reply "That's not Battlestar Galactica, it's Star Wars!".

So, in June 1978, just one month before its release, George Lucas filed suit against Universal, the producers of "Saga of a Star World", the feature length pilot of Battlestar Galactica, citing plagiarism, copyright infringement, unfair competition, and breach of the Lanham Trademark Act, claiming the theft of 34 distinct ideas from Star Wars (Source:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saga_of_… ).

It is commonly believed that one of the grievances was over the design of the Colonial Viper, when compared to Star Wars' universally recognisable INCOM T-65 X-Wing Starfighter. It is clear to see that there are striking similarities between design, style, and production between the two IP's, although it has been established that both borrowed heavily from the same sources, such as Buck Rodgers, accounting for this.

All this got me wondering, 'though, whilst recently talking to friends about these similarities, what would an in-universe Star Wars Viper look like?

Presenting the B/S-G-78 Viper Interceptor, INCOM's latest in light planetary defence craft. Available to security forces across the New Republic, the Viper was designed to support your X-wing and E-wing squadrons. Available wherever INCOM products are sold. Outer Rim Territories subject to limited release only.

Model is OBJ, textures are PNG.

Replacement textures, for the following Squadron Colours, are included:

Black Squadron
Blue Squadron
Gold Squadron
Green Squadron
Purple Squadron
Red Squadron
No Squadron
