Description
Specialist Zoe Sideris here, Log 42.Been down here for... about a month and a half by now. It's be funny if I could say that I've forgotten what sunlight looks like by now, but nope, still kicking. Haven't turned into a morlock or deep one. Not yet anyways.
I've done the usual chores in the habitat: clean out the filters on the desalinizer, log how the algae growth is going and run maintenance diagnostics on the hab systems. I mean, they build these underwater habs better than they used to, so a lot of this stuff is automated by now. Of course, I still have to get my divesuit on and do the other experiments and maintenance and stuff outside. The cyber tentacles help out a lot better now. Took me awhile to multitask with them, but they've been pretty handy for grabbing a hold of something and staying steady in the water. Plus some of the tools built in frees up my other hands for the work. Especially for cleaning the sides of the hab of all the algae and crap that starts growing.
I've been trying to get outside a bit more often. Well, out habitat at least. Lucrezia's been getting more antsy over how the food is prepared, and I think Sigurd is still moody over the last DnD session we ran. Getting a little claustrophobic y'know. So I've been doing more dive work. It's nice. Sometimes I just swim out to the kelp forest and just explore the nooks and bends. Other times I just float by the rocky outcropping overlooking the trench. I've grown used to the inky blackness below me. Doesn't scare me like it used to.
While I was out floating, I saw some lights in the distance. They were jellyfish. Just a few of them really. The spill they had earlier in the year still depleted a lot of the biodiversity in the area. They're like old will-o-wisps. I sort of had one in my hands. Well, my hands were around them rather. It glows with bioluminescent light at these depths. You kinda wonder how much of a brain they have. I looked into it wondering if it could sense me. They just floated away after awhile. Not a care in the world. I wish I could have that feeling sometimes, even with everything topside going to hell. Hurricane season is getting worse this year they say. Maybe staying down here isn't so bad.

Gave my octopus diver another makeover. Reworked the tentacles a little bit, but I think I keep screwing up the alignments. Better luck next time I guess. It was still nice to go into detail here.
