Description Summer, Year 751 of the New Age
Blackwood, Deep in the Forests near Sharktooth Bay

It might have been almost high noon, but under the thick canopies time had seem to stand still. Only the occasional call of a bird broke the silence that had surrounded the ghostly-colored doe, well that and the sloshing-sound of the muddy water she crossed through.

It had been almost a year since her escape from Silverthorne, but even so her treatment in Blackwood had grown no better than it had been on the first day of her arrival. Often made the target by does most specifically, she was hated, attacked, and talked badly about on most any occasions they saw fit.

"Why don't you crawl back to Silverthorne, stag-stealer?!", they had mocked, "you'll never fit in, pond-scum! I bet she's a filthy spy!"

Syl let the insults roll off her back, and longed for something to keep her out of the fighting. While she did know how to handle herself at her old home, the fawnlings of Blackwood were a much different breed of warriors and fighters. Does were much stronger and fit for battle, compared to Silvethorne where most were just for the scenery of the place. Here she could easily be butchered in a face to face battle, so instead of confronting these does she relied on her abilities as a thief and evaded contact. Eventually she would like to learn a bit- but for the slender 11 hand doe, that seemed like an illusion. Similar to the ravenous wolves that lurked the territory, the does always were out to kill and always out for blood, more specifically - hers.

Every moment of contact with any of the herd, she was clearly marked as an outsider. Her coat, her dialect, her size, everything about her screamed "Silverthorne". Syl looked into the murky water she had been treading through, wishing she could loose her old face and grow another one, but it was clear that there was fire that burned inside her. It was their gift, the gift of fire, but for the young doe wishing to lose her ancient heritage to gain acceptance into Blackwood- it was a curse.

She had heard stories of a doe from Silverthorne, abandoning her home and learning Black magic. Could it be possible for her to put out the flame inside of her and taint it with the darkness of that magic? On the surface of her mind she wouldn't mind it, but underneath her shell she was secretly scared of its unknown power.

Syl shook off the thought of dark powers and continued down her muddy path. In some parts of the water the mud would reach to her knees, easily tiring her enough to the point of stopping for a while, but soon continuing on. Eventually she reached a shallow stretch and dredged on, soon enough finding what she was looking for in the darkest part of the muddy creek. A patch of small purple flowers, only accented with a bright yellow center- nightshade. Its beauty was merely a lie, similar to Syl herself- underneath its appearance it was a deadly plant, but if used the right way it could have other effects. That was what she was going to find out, and carefully plucked the deadly flower from its bush.

If the young doe could not fight, and could not use her inner fire magic, then the best she could do was learn the way of herbs and lore, maybe even exploiting the specimens she found to inflict harm instead of heal. Poisons, infections, and diseases - the power of the earth was trusting to its inhabitants, to place such deadly weapons in the hands of mortals. Herbs, medicines, and poisons could be something to keep her out of the fights with Blackwood does and into the seclusion she needed for training and plotting...

Not my best story, I'm still working on them. Might edit this around and change things if I come back and just don't like it. I started this with lines, thinking it might be a bid for one of the art auctions, but then I was like "I already have 2 fawnlings - it will be like a third wheel for me if I got one more" - and so I used the lines for Syl here. Thats supposed to be mud on her, but it turned out looking like fur >.< or at least to me it did. I might go back and re-do that later If I get ticked off about it any more.

Such a great story Not for Syl maybe, but for me as a reader! 8D Really shows how hard it is to be a stranger in one of the other territories, especially Blackwood! They must be the bulliest of bullier D:

Lol Syl's a sad little panda, Maybe one day she'll fit in, but if its taking years probably not At least living in Blackwood gives her a good place to learn herbs and stuff, thats one positive.
