Adult African-American voices of reason from adult cartoons that satirizes American politics [not all of the time in South Park's case].
Both are usually the straight-man towards the kid protagonists (Huey & Riley Freeman; Stan, Kyle, Kenny & Eric), but sometimes they'll join in or contribute to the chaos.
Both have a nickname that explain the role they serve in the kids lives (Robert "GRANDAD" Freeman; Jerome 'CHEF" McElroy).
Both have a running gags about their desires to "make love" to women, which led up to a episode about them dating a psycho with a secret deadly past that tried to kill them (Luna, who was a marital artist that had gained a obsession with finding "the one" because of her past abuse with men; Veronica who was a succubus).
Both have a running gag where they have a somewhat supernatural rival that constantly pesters them & their families (Colonel H. Stinkmeaner, who is a violent maniac that keeps on trying to fight Robert; The Loch Ness Monster, that keeps on trying to get "three fiddy" out of his parents).
Have contrasting personalities: Robert being more talkative and impatient while Chef is more laid back and soft spoken.

This is funny. Fav for both since I have another fav for Total Drama Chef
