Description
Hidden on one wall within the Unseen university library is a tapestry. Believed at first to have been done by Bloody Stupid Johnson, but as it is still hanging and hasn't smothered anyone, others suggest that Leonard de Quirm may have cross stitched this one afternoon. This has been interpreted using Blender 2.78.

Love it!
Mind you, I'm not sure we can tell it's a tapestry rather than a scroll, but unless the software's got a good fabric-texture option, there's not much that could be done about it. This looks great in any case!

Thanks for your comment. Would it have look more tapestry like if the proportions of the book was smaller??

Hmm? No, the book's size has nothing to do with it; it's just that the tapestry could use a bit more texture (especially on the white areas, where the texture would be most noticeable) to show that it's woven cloth rather than, I dunno, a flat painted surface.
But I have no idea whether your graphics program provides such a texture as a possible overlay/whatever, which is why I said I wasn't sure whether anything could be done about it.
Very few people would notice it one way or another in any case--mostly hand-weavers, embroiderers, and/or medievalists--and besides, online gamers are used to the graphic limitations in any case. Online RPG art is improving almost hour by hour, but it's still limited by the processing power needed by the other aspects of the game.
Your picture is lovely, and I'm sorry if I worried you about such a minor thing.
--Nonie, a 59-year-old mildly medievalist ex-embroiderer whose RPGs still involved dice and paper character sheets, so don't worry too much about my opinion in any case

Thanks for your advice and wise words. We did try to bring up the texture as best we could but we found on the coloured parts it made the picture look fuzzy and blurred and lost lots of what was happening in the picture. Quite frankly it look bad. we are fairly new to using Blender and I am sure there are those out there that could have improved it but as yet we don't know how??
We really appreciated your information, obviously a person with your knowledge really sees stuff that others don't as you have awareness of the subject. So thanks for all you said, please don't feel bad we want people like you to tell us stuff we are doing wrong so we can improve.
Thank you again.

What's your favourite book?

Wow, that's a real hard one to answer. I love all the Witches series, including Tiffany Aching. the Death Series is wonderful. All the Night Watch too. I have only read the Colour of Magic in the Wizard series - though I have to say they are my least favorite.
Granny Weatherwax is my favorite character, I love her so much.
I also love the way Terry Pratchett wirtes his female characters. such a sad loss to the world when he died.
What's your??
