I basically use 6 online stores

Renderosity : you'll find Idler's stuff there and some of Billy T's
Daz3d : that's for the 3d celebrity textures and Redhouse studios
PoserPro's : assorted items
RDNA : assorted items
PoserWorld : (more a membership club than a store) assorted items
Renderotica : the more naughty stuff!

Shiny delight's maps were an exchange gift so not sure if they're available

Everything else is home made (the items I like to use aren't exactly 'out there'!).
Some things I've noticed are not always available for sale now as they're a bit old (2-3 years).

Thank you so much for the help. I just need your advice on one more thing. I want to make my own outfits too. I've read that Virtual Fashion is a good program to use with Poser. Do you know of any others? What would you recommend?

Hi Denver50 - I've not really heard of that programme so couldn't help you with a recommendation or not. If it's the PhilC one I'm thinking of, then it should be good. Phil's a long time modeller (uses Truespace as far as I know) and knows his stuff.

Re making stuff, if it's for Poser, you'll need any 3d modelling package that exports .obj files - and some small (usually free/shareware) stuff to get the finished results into Poser e.g. uvmapper, morph manager, cr2edit etc.

CarraraStudio, Rhino, Max, Truespace, Cinema4d, Blender, Wings, Hexagon and Shade are just some of them!

Each has their own little quirks/features and some are more 'complicated' than others - it also depends on price! - pretty much you get what you pay for!

Another deciding factor (at least for me personally) would be the user interface - if you're making stuff, there's quite a lot of time working with these programmes, so you've got to feel comfortable with it!.

I tried most of the above before finding that I worked best with Cinema4d and Rhino, so have stuck with them (although others eg. Max offers more 'fuller' features (and price!)).

The good news is that most of the above programmes can be had as demo or trial versions. I think cinema4d version 6 (the full release is upto version 10.1 now) is completely free now and will give you enough features/tools/options to get making stuff, so you could take time and try to find one you can work with.

oh yes - you'll also need some patience and a plan before you start anything!
