Ill be sure to look when I have a little more cash. Im trying to save for my senior trip to AIP this summer for the sample classes. I discovered the student store, and spent over 100 bucks in like, 10 minutes. Ha.

lol
there are better places to shop its really expensive in there. Are you going to the pittsburgh Art Institute? If you are I just graduated there. If you need any help or need to know anything I'll help you if you need it.

Well, I plan to. I was invited last summer for the Junior Program (Youve probably heard about it). We stayed at Duquesne University and walked to AIP and got to have three sample classes. I had Interior Design, Graphic Design, and Photography. And we get invited back this year for a Senior Program where we get to select one class and have it for a whole week. But as for the store, its the only place Ive been able to get my hands on that sort of thing. My family doesnt understand how they are different or any better than any other, so they are reluctant to take me somewhere with good art supplies.

eeeww that stinks...
my pap was the same way... he kept bringing home these really cheap supplies... which were nice but not very good for what i wanted to do
hes also bring me home linded paper to draw on... they just dont get it
what classes are you looking at taking?
its a good school to teach you technical stuff but keep doing the stuff you love because it seperates the real artists from people just going through the motions

Exactly. Its frustrating.
But Ive been stuck between graphic design, interior design, and photography. Originally I was gonna go for either a major/minor combo possibly in photography and graphic design, but when I had the trial class for interior design I REALLY enjoyed it. It was totally unexpected but I had a great time making a sample room and picking the samples for all the things in it.
Im thinking Ill probably take the summer class for my senior year in photography, but Im still trying to decide exactly what I want to go for.

So regarding the type of people that goes into each major this is how it generally breaks down:
1) photography students tend to isolate themselves and have a much MUCH harder time finding work, your more likely to not end up with a job unless you do some serious networking before graduating
2) graphic design - everyone who cant make it in other majors gets put in graphic design, so there is a large range of students from really really awesome artist to people who really shouldnt be there - is a good magor and if you do well in it then you have many more opportunities for good jobs
3) interior design - this tends to be all girls and from what ive seen they tend to be lazy, if you work your ass off and do well at everything in this major - which you can, theyre not that complicated - then youll do well in the working world, and if you have other natural good design skills its a plus
thats just my fyi - remember the goal is to end up with a job that you like and want to be in AFTER school is over, its hard to keep in mind - especially going in... . hope this helps
take care

It does. Thats sort of been whats been giving me such a hard time. Ive been trying to sort out what I feel I wont get bored with. I have to really love what Im doing not to. And thats sort of the tough part. But Im sure youve had some sort of struggle with that yourself before and maybe even during college.
Im pretty much stuck between interior design and graphic design. I really love photography, and would love to further my abilities in it, but I see that coming later in life if I ever pursue it.

really like the metaly parts. I think you need to make the wood beveled though... it needs some more depth.
