Description The beginning of one may not be too radically different to the beginning of us all. Comets coming into contact with the early Earth are said to have been likely "seeders" of life, bringing water and possibly organic compounds with them, making the Earth fertile. A system that is repeated time and time again on a much smaller scale for the origins of us all

This is my second of three submissions to the Luminarium's Gaia exhibit theme. And you won't believe how long I've had this concept in mind for, waiting, in fact - knowing there will be a perfect opportunity to make it The concept should plain and simple, making a connection between the conception of a single living being to the popular theory that water and perhaps even "frozen life" cells arrived to the early Earth via comets.

Unlike the previous artwork which was almost all 3D work, this one is all Photoshop work. I thought a more "illustrated" style better suited the theme for this one. Particularly the Earth/Egg which I wanted to look strangely translucent with light passing right through similar to a cell with even a nucleus floating inside (guess that could be like the Earth's core )

I also was chosen and interview as the featured artist for this particular themed exhibit here www.theluminarium.net/v3/featu…

Earth was gaining water and organic particles for long time... but in that time our planet was harsh place. Love the picture.

Theory about life coming from space (panmixia) isn't too popular. There are only few organism, which genetic information wouldn't be destroyed by cosmic radiation. Also, it would explain only from where life is on Earth, but not from where in space.
We are children of dead stars, cause some elements building living bodies came out from supernovas. And from comets.

Well, yeah - maybe not a popular theory. I do still think life having started on earth itself sounds more plausible, but the theory made for an interesting illustration anyway

This reference to live and how it is born is amusing in a thoughtful way....it makes me wonder how things went into the creation of the Big Bang that created our universe...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to wrath9 [2012-12-11 02:45:29 +0000 UTC]

There are heaps of theories I guess. I'm currently buying into the theory that the big bang was the result of a previous universe collapsing in on itself, being recycled in a way and then being forced back out again due to the pressure of a whole universe's worth of matter being compressed into a tiny unit
