It's been far too long since I made any Sonic - related Fanart ( Sonic spheres was made far before submitting ). So I decided to kickstart My Sonic fandom again with a far more decent artwork, However drawing Sonic would be too predictable so I decided to draw Shadow instead. However I will draw other characters eventually.I decided to make him holding the red emerald because it better suited the theme and There is far more green emeralds in Sonic fanart than red ones, so this should be something different.
Shadow is a copyrighted character of SEGA. However this deviation is my own work so stealing from me is no different from taking credit for Shadow himself!

Wonderful! I never liked the "Brave Hearted Hero Shadow", this is amazing! "Black Hearted hero" attitude is way cooler! I am a "Shadow The Hedgehog" roleplayer on Twitter. I was wondering if I could use this as an icon there, but if I can't, no problem. Keep up with the good work!

Indeed I am. Though my Sonic fandom has died off a little. A lto of the other fans have kinda killed for me, your'e one of the few I've encountered whose sane

The fans don't even know what they're screaming about these days, but sadly it is true, half the sonic fanbase has gone batsh*t crazy and are just out to spoil it for everyone else for reasons they don't even know!
I dunno, maybe games like halo, call of duty and GTA have just made everyone spoilt and constantly hungry for perfection, but in my honest opinion I don't think this is ever gonna stop, even if sonic does make great games again these kids will still keep at it.
The fan-base is already practically dead inside...

Oh wow! This looks great! I love the red aura of energy flowing out of the Chaos Emerald. And you did a great job showing his dead serious attitude. His attitude and the red glow coming from the emerald really fits the theme.

did you use photoshop? and how did you get the CG effect

Yeah, 95% was done in Photoshop ( a little was done in Paint shop pro, buts thats not all necessary if you have Photoshop ). CG effect?, you mean like a 3D look right? well thats just the result of careful shading and texturing to give a more realistic look. I'm afraid theres no shortcuts there. I'm sure you have seen deviations from great Photoshop artists that look almost 3D, well thats just with heaps of practice.

thanks. I have photoshop, but what sucks is that i don't have a scanner so i can't see what i can do with my drawing. but i'm saving my money and hopefully i'll get one soon then i can practice. I did one of mephiles the dark thats on my web page but i have to say it's okay. and then i have one of sonic i did on the school photoshop which i have to scan. i't pretty cool what programs now a days can do .

Yeah, I saw your gallery. I'n fact, I work differently to the "official" way that fan-artists work in that I do the whole thing stright on the computer. We have a scanner but I have only scanned one image on it before. I guess it shows it can all be done on the computer, with a mouse. But having a "base sketch" does help out.

so are you saying you drew all this on the computer? you saw my gallery right. most of the one were done on my old slow paced moving pc. i got to a point i was going to kick it because it frustrated me.glad thats over i got myself a new pc ! well i do have one picture of sonic like a demon( it's the one staring at you) he was done by mouse all in photoshop. i still like the way it came out.

I remember making the change from a computer that was about 8 years old to a much newer one...Man it makes all the difference. I still don't know I survived back when the simple process of saving a small image took 5 minutes, and a web page took twice as long to load

now why doesn't this have more comments? It's really great! The fur is good but i am in absolute love with the eyes!!!! they're stunning!
i have just one thing though. the mouth looks a little wierd. I think it's just his canine tooth's angle. if the top was tilted a little more right it may look better. Also it looks like it blends in with the bottom teeth a little too much. if you made it a bit more defined on the bottom jaw that could help.
alright i'm done nit picking. time to fav it.

I see what You mean with how the teeth need to be more defined, But I actually looked at the same picture of Shadow thats on the game cover as reference, His head was in the same position here and thats how his mouth really appeared. But I'll take more care next time around, I'll probably fix that minor problem anyway.
