Normally I don't upload anything within minutes of finishing it, but I'm just eager to get something up here during a dull moment
So it's been over a year since the last time I drew Cloud and I thought I'd just remind myself and everyone else that I still like him, and for the first time I wanted to go for a "sexy" mood rather than a "serious" one, since Cloud can't be miserable all the time, especially when he looks like that, and I know some fans love this sort of stuff too so here's a li'l pressie for them especially, hope ya like it 
Detailing is what took the longest here, a few hours at least on the cottony like texture on his jacket alone. The rest was relatively quicker than usual for my character illustrations, hopefully because I'm getting better, but maybe just because there's no much content here. Still, at least its better than my other Cloud drawings
EDIT: 25,2,2012 - This has been edited several times before but this is the most recent. Improved his abs, changed hair at the front, added a leather collar around his neck

Yeah, I don't like this one anymore already. I guess these are becoming "forced". I draw them mostly because I feel obligated to to live up to my reputation. But man I'm getting tired of trying and failing. The Gackt one was just a lucky coincidence that too ridiculously long...far too long for it to cost a practical amount of money if it was a commission. And that's why I consider quitting - no-ones gonna pay a lot for a mediocre character illustration when they can pay someone else less who can do it better and faster

Yes, the background the hair and the jacket are all very good. Though he almost looks like a manikin cause of the skin texture. Though i don't really think you should only stick to space drawing as the other person said, i think it would benefit you to take this pic as a challenge and make it better.

This was an odd character made. It's a bit gay in apperance and facial features? I think it's more of a woman face due to the high cheekbones and soft eyes. Not very straight lines and strong bone structure that usually goes towards men features.
The face itself looks almost pasted on the body, it's too high contrast in comparison with the rest of the body. He almost glows a little but the face doesn't, it looks like he's been worked over with make-up almost. That's mainly to the eyeliner and glittering lips.
I terms of sexyness I'm not sure here, he looks more porn-ish, especially when he standing thre without any pants on him?
Our left (his right) arm is way to sharp in contrast on the inner side there at the triceps. You can't have that hard edge since it's a rounded object and not a flat surface.
It's a nice job well done still besides all my critique here but there's a lot more you can work on.

Of course you can draw characters, you've done a good job, just needs more training. No need to put on a sad face due to my critique alone mate 
You just need to study some more anatomy so you get things more correct, that's it, keep at it Matt, you can work it!

I guess that's true, it's just that it takes me forever to learn anything, I'm not sure if the time invested in learning new things could end up being worth the years involved, I ain't getting younger

nice! the textures are cool (background and fabric) . Maybe you could improve the texture of the skin.

skin is tricky. It should be smooth but not melted. what tool do you use? I find that using a hard brush with low opacity gives more definition. And using saturated colors as transistion shades work nicely too.

I use a mix of hard and soft brushes, sometimes the smudge tool and then a light brushing over most areas to help smooth out the effects that smudge sometimes shows up...after I finish shading the skin I used some rough/gritty-looking custom brushes and lightly use them ove rthe skin with the blending mode set to "overlay" and it helps give a subtle look of texture and colour variations

Not to be rude but I think you're better off with Space Art, the jacket and the hair is good but it seems to me that the body and the lighting is really off. It looks chunky and poorly shaded.

But space art sadly dosn't really have any kind of market value since its a pretty restricted genre. If I can imrpoove with these I can hopefully have something else to add to my list of things I can do.

At least one can be sure I won't give up on the space stuff - sadly whenever I see a space artist start practicing in other areas, they get good at it and just totally ditch space art and never do it again. But I've been juggling a variety of subjects and concepts for years - if I was going to stop space art, it would have happened ages ago by now

Oh, wow! I was just scrolling through the new artworks inbox thing, and this caught my eye, so I just had to look at it first, haha.
Anyway! You've done a really great job on it! Detail's awesome, especially on the hair and jacket thingy! And I love how you got the shadowing details, too. And the muscles are very realistic, too! Awesome, awesome work, I love it!
