Description
Full View for a cinematic view of your local cosmosOK, so when I read about a "deviantMAP contest" held by I instantly started coming up with creative and humerous ideas. Rather than limiting myself to a world-like map perhaps with different galleries taking up different landmasses, I figured deviantART is so grand, why not give it its own Solar System (Or "Lolar system" if that sounds more like dA
Lets get to it shall we?...
The planets of deviantART
DeviantART Server: The very core of the entire system of which would not exist without it, Server lies in a local cluster of stars ranging from smaller stars like CGSociety or Renderosity, to massive Supergiants such as Myspace and Youtube. In relation to these other servers, deviantART server is rather aged but still bright. The perfect sized star!
Female Nudes: Lying closest to Server, due to it apparently being the "hottest" of the galleries and the first thing many people look for on arrival, if this gallery was any bigger, it would have formed into a gas giant like the other, bigger ones!
Male Nudes: Significantly smaller than its feminine gallery counterpart, this gallery is still hot in the eyes of the few that appreciate it, let alone the fewer again that submit into it. Its Mars-like look is well fitting to it's masculine theme!
General Photography: Sunsets, water-drops, flowers, rings casting heart-shaped shadows - you name it! whatever you can think of that was taken through the lens of every camera, ranging from the cheap disposable ones to ones that can put a Ferrari to shame in a price war - all goes onto this giant gallery, you might still have to try and find some available space though.
Traditional Art: Apparently is where the whole art journey started, you can tell as it has a well-established and earth-like form too. Though small compared to most other galleries, never undermine the value of any form of hand-made art!
3D Art: Not very large, but worth a visit if your'e bold enough to sit in front of a 3D program! One can't help but wonder why so many of those naked Poser ladies havn't been shifted by Server to the innermost planet.
Stolen Google Images: Aaahhh! these stray lumps of crap are just about everywhere! and constantly pose a threat to all the other proper galleries on here. Destroy the stolen google images by reporting them!
Anime / Manga: Makes itself a rather dominant gallery that's almost impossible to miss every time you log in to stargaze at this site. But bigger isn't always better - but having said that, across its vast surface are some beauties that are worth all that searching, sill - don't say I didn't warn ya!
Fan-Art: Don't look so shocked, you KNEW It was going to be the biggest, in fact - fan-art grew so big so fast that it converted into glowing a brown dwarf gallery - smaller than a star, too big to be a normal planet, hence why it's the second most dominant object in the whole system right after the Server itself, you can't miss it even if you tried!
Other Digital Art: Was once colossal! but ever since Manga and Fan-art seperated and coalesced into their own galleries, Digital Art in general became less than half the size after shedding those unslightly tonnes, in spite of that, it still holds a wealth of different forms of art and safe to say it's still a damn big gallery!
Worthwhile Tutorials: There's lot of tutorials on here, but half often lead to a dead-end for most that use them here, this teeny-tiny portion of the deviant System has been bombarded with every member that hoped to become pro in an afternoon, so the poor gallery sports a multitude of big craters.
Dee Dee's: Because we are losing our ability to say "Daily Deviations" in this busy place. Dee Dee's is the final fronteir, you can't get a better honour on here than that, few make it to this small but bright gallery that shines proudly with the teal glint of deviantART!
Art Memes: Like comets, they strike fear into the hearts of some, but are amusing for others. Art memes come and go like Comets do, and people enjoy it while it lasts, but couldn't care less once its gone...
Phew, long comment, remember not to take this too seriously or literally, maybe the galleries should be different sizes relative to each other and I just got the wrong impression. Maybe I could have added more galleries too! But I considered all the variables an dthis way was just the right amount to keep it humerous
No NASA imagery was used, some planets were made from painted texture-maps that were applied to 3D spheres, others including the Sun are done using fully procedural textures. Made using Vue and Photoshop.
Download is required to see text (but its explained in the comments anyway)
All artwork in my gallery is made by me and copyrighted too. Re-distributing my art edited or not is immoral and illegal! Respect the artist - don't steal art!

Hahaha - hard to admit but it is very true
Ok i would move manga up in the hierarchy (sad thing a lot of what it's called Manga here should be called 'sailor_moon', but hey ....not everybody knows what Akira is ) Well ..the stolen artworks is a nice touch chipped and distorted as well as the flush of comet and the lonely good DD sputnik
You have some great imaginative interpretation skills my friend

The truth hurts, but it can be really funny too Oh yeah, nothing like Sailor Moon fan-art where the artists decided she's look better with a double D-cup
Guess the reason why Fan-art is so big since it also contains anime-fan-art as well
Glad you like it, and thanks for faving

I love That you have a sense of humor about it
not everyone does And me and some of my friends did discuss
the issues of DD's in many ways (including the double D's),
actually there was a period of time where some chosen artworks
went soo gruesome we were begging for the regular 'bad-shot'
nudity to come back and be displayed as daily yayas
Well some of the fan-art is well done, unfortunately its such
a tiny percentage its always overshadowed by half-human, half
rabbit versions with big bogly eyes and bizarre stripper outfits.
Im just glad Im on that little green planet ....hehehe..looks friendly
with fractals, bryce, incendia and few other programs.

If you hadn't received the daily deviation that time, I'm sure this will be one of the daily deviations again.

Haha, one said my timing was bad since this would get a DD right away if the other didn't, but I suppose it's good since I will have more art up by the time I get another DD, so more for visitors to see (even though over 120 is plenty! )

Hahaha, if you're lucky, someone would probably give you some subscription, I doubt it will stack, or probably the admins will give you another DD, breaking their own rules. ><

One can only dream but if they broke the rules, you can imagine how much jealousy-fuelled hate mail I'd get on my page...so I actually hope it's at least 3 months before my next DD

Hahaha, I think the DA admins are more than willing to give you that.
Maybe, who knows, you could be part of the team of DA.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Your timing is soooooooooo off -.-
Now you gotta wait 3 months until it gets DD'ed.
It's that awesome in concept in execution

Trust me, if it weren't for the deadline, I WOULD have staved this off for longer. But I really could handle gettinga DD right after making it to "popular" again - the 7000 messages were really flattering, but took days to get through
Oh well, we'll have to wait and see

This is SO great man!
I must say though, this looks a like this [link] and that Brown Dwarf is almost identical to my Brown Dwarf! XD XD XD

Oh yeah, I remember commenting that it's probably what provoke dmy to make the biggest one a brown dwarf too, since a regular Gas Giant just isn't big enough
Plus I have never illustrated one before, was fun to make actually

Dude, your brown dwarf looks awesome!! oWO
Brown Dwarfs are my favorite type of gas giant/almost star and your's is the first reallistic one I've seen on DA.
But, I must say, your's still looks a lot like mine! XD
Even the great red spot is in a similar position! XP
Actually... the whole picture reminds me of some of my solar systems.
Keep up the awesome job!!!! *bows down before the awesomeness*

Somehow, some way...it all comes together...all makes sense. This is probably one of the more original interpretations of dA I've seen in a really long time...and trust me when I say I've seen a lot. Oh, and bonus points for the stellar eye candy. :]
This may just get a "Dee Dee" down the road, as you put it.

Chromattix In reply to Bowser81889 [2009-03-18 04:04:55 +0000 UTC]
Yep, somehow, someway - everything in the Universe is the way it is for a reason, the bigger galleries would have stronger gravity after all, so they attract a lot more of eveyrthing - including the bad Glad you think it's original too, I havn't seen anything like this and that should go in my favour for the contest
Lol, oh the irony if this were to get a Dee Dee I'll have to wait at least 3 months to see if it does (dA policy, which is only fair, I'd get pissed if I saw the same person get a Dee Dee eveyy month too
)

Ah...yeah, you got a point there. There's pros and cons to having a really popular gallery sometimes.
Best of luck in that contest there...and yeah, I hear ya there...though I do hope someday this gets featured.

HAHAHA this is great!!!! and soooooo creative!!!!! was it hard to think of the planets, or do you spend so much time on DA that they were obvious choices? did you have to do research?
absolutely amazing job, really original, creative, and overall brilliant.

Chromattix In reply to MasterOfGeckos [2009-03-18 04:00:13 +0000 UTC]
Not really hard to think of, once you have been here for three years, you get to know the relative size of each gallery, and though this here may be innaccurate (who knows, there might be more photo's than manga) it's my best guess The hardest thing was limiting myself only to certain galleries, others would have opened more funny opportinities, but this deviation is long enough as is

This is pure brilliance. I could not click the button fast enough!
Your interpretation of the "DA Galaxy" is extremely clever and surprisingly insightful. Who knew there was so much meaning hiding in those lovely planets?
If I didn't already watch you, I would now, just for this work. In fact, I wish I could watch you twice!
Bravo!!!!

Chromattix In reply to ladyarah [2009-03-18 03:58:01 +0000 UTC]
I can't ever click the button fast enough since my computer is so damn slow
lucky yours is for a better reason, glad you like it that much, and yes - I carefully designed the look and size of each planet as they would most likely appear given the size of, and type of gallery it represents
Sure, watch away but doing it twice won't add much
