Description
Something for everyone, and Myself in the spirit of My first Christmas on DeviantArt. And what represents this time of the year than the classic Christmas tree.I was going to make the lights all white for a more formal look but decided that colourful lights look more cheerful and theres bound to be a colour that everybody likes shining between pale fronds of magic. I was even considering making it into a Christmas card even if I have to wait 'till next time.
Drawn in Photoshop alone with a mouse
Merry Christmas to all !
Wow, it got a Daily deviation, thankyou very much, you can see my first DD here [link]

Thanks! I was actually surprised to see this get a Daily Deviation, I thought it was too "simple" but I think it was made so long ago that I kinda forgot that it did take a long time to do this...especially by mouse

When Christmas comes, I'm stealing this and keeping it in my living room. You can have it back around... the following August.

Lol, or better yet, you could buy a print and have it always (even if it does spend 10 months a year in the attic with all the other Christmas decorations ) Thanks for the recent favourites too

Aww, you don't have to beleive in God/Jesus to enjoy the occasion anyway regardless of what it represents - it's a rare occasion where (most) people are nice to each other and the streets are lit up with Christmas decorations which are just plain fun to look at

Thanks a lot, though the scene is rather simple, I still had to pay careful attention to the light and colour, especially to make a fantasy-like scene as believable as possible (well, as best I could in 2006
)

Wow, this is really nicely done. It's pretty and detailed and I love the colours of it. It really works well with the empty background completely drawing ones attention to the tree. Also I like the light source in this.
Very nice.

I could have chosen many colours, but Blue seemed to fit best so glad you like dthe colour. This was made 2 whole years ago already, so I can't remember for sure, but I think I was deciding whether to put more trees in the background, but I thought a simpler background worked nicer...back then, I never would have thought I'd ever get a DD

lol - I didn't know you recieved a DD for this. The most wierd thing is that I actually like more the combination of colors and purple background rather than the tree itself.

I was surprised it got a Daily Deviation. Since it wasn't the best deviation in my gallery (but only one of two Christmas deviations, and just look at the date it got a DD ) But even now, I think it was good for my standards at the time, plus it was done by mouse too
If only I made it at a higher resolution to sell bigger prints, but my computer at the time was weak and I didn't think I was good enough to sell anything either (you would too if you got less than 1000 pageviews in your first year here lol) so both of those things just stopped me from making anything at a print-worthy size

I think your'e the first to call it "cozy" but the haze and glowing lights with the still air would give that impression...I didn't want it to look like the usual "harsh winter scene"

wolfcryredmoon In reply to Chromattix [2008-12-08 02:19:37 +0000 UTC]
If you mean loads of snow everywhere by the "harsh winter scene", then you did excellent by not doing that, if that makes any sense.

Oh, I haven't seen this one before... Stupid me
Anyways, I can see you were really good in 2006 as well, which is pretty impressive. I mean, if I look at the drawings I did two years ago I feel like throwing up But your older stuff is just as nice to look at as the stuff you've done recently

Since it's December and Christmas is around the corner, I thought I'd put my first Christmas deviation on the featured deviation for a while. Plus I will be trying to promote my older works as much as I can by giving them some time on my main page or journal shoutboard, since many who visit my gallery rarely bother to browse past the first two pages (But I'm subscribed, so I can see e'm all at once at leats until I submit 2 more deviations lol)
I was very active in digital art even way back in 2006 when I was new here

That's a smart thing to do And it's a shame that people almost never take a look at the older things
Cool So you've been on dA for two years or so, eh? ^^
