Description 2 in 1 day! Wanted to make an up-to-date picture of my second Twilight x Sunset nextgen, Dusk Radiance. She takes a lot after Twilight's side of the family color-wise because she used to be one of two Flashlight nextgen twins (where her brother was colored more like Flash Sentry), but I'm recycling her to be Morningstar's younger sister in my current verse. :3

I'll update this post with more information later, but take this quick blurb for now!

Dusk Radiance Sparkle (Twilight Sparkle x Sunset Shimmer)

  • She/her (cis mare)
  • Bisexual (female-leaning)
  • Pegasus
  • disaster wlw Eventual ambassador and diplomat
  • Optional voice claim: Kristen Schaal (Louise, Bob's Burgers)

Dusk is the second child born in the union of Princess Twilight Sparkle and Princess Sunset Shimmer. A playful, carefree, and enthusiastic mare, Dusk never cared too much for the responsibilities weighing on her shoulders as the second-in-line to the Throne of Friendship — nor did she appreciate the endless amount of rules thrust upon her from a young age. She preferred instead to cause [relatively harmless] mischief and let her older brother handle the important "royalty things" while she ventured away from the castle. Thankfully, her parents never seemed to pressure her too hard into taking her status more seriously, focusing their efforts on Morning's training. In fact, between their regular royal duties and older son, Dusk's parents rarely spent much time with her at all. She was free to gallivant as she pleased — so long as she was home by dark and never caused trouble for her folks.

She was happy and carefree, yes — but also, a little bit lonely. Twi and Sunny's unintentional favoritism of their regal unicorn son weighs heavily on their secondborn, who begins to convince herself that she never could have made it as a "real" princess anyways. Everypony — the nobles, the press, even their own parents — consider Morning to be the perfect prodigal heir Equestria needs, and it leaves Dusk with a lot of self-esteem and detachment issues. Maybe even a little bit of jealousy...

Not that that jealousy means too much; Dusk and Morning share a friendly relationship, even when the two spend less and less time together as Morning's situation worsens. She would never do anything to jeopardize the hard work he put in all these years — and she doesn't want the throne, anyway! It isn't important to her.

When Morning eventually renounces his throne and flees to find his place in the world, Dusk is heartbroken and flabbergasted. For the first time in her life, she is expected to follow in her brother's hoofsteps and play the part he was always destined to. While she supposes she should feel grateful for finally getting some attention, the pressure she feels is absolutely crushing, and she's crippled with a nagging case of imposter syndrome as she fumbles in the tasks Morning was always so adept at. She laments being unable to help Morning with his struggles, and secretly believes she's at fault for not picking up on his turmoil sooner. As Morning's absence continues, Dusk is left to confront her own mounting feelings.

For anyone curious, you can see this post from 2022 about Dusk's brother, Morningstar. www.deviantart.com/chronically… He needs an updated fullbody too, eventually.

As always, thank you for checking out my work!
