I love all the relationships in the Tintin universe. In my mind this young orphan had slowly but surely built up a strong network of friends that became his family. Tintin and Haddock, Calculus and Haddock, and Tintin and Snowy seem to have a father-son dynamic going and its touching.Reading the comics I was so endeared to Haddock. He is such a soft touch, and I can imagine how frustrating it is to care so much for someone so young, but has been doing reckless things long before him. He can't sway him, so all he can do is follow and worry. What father can't relate to that?

i love Tintin's face in this! and i've been a Tintin fan since 1999 and i totaly agree! Haddock is like a father to Tintin, but does that make Calculus his mum? LOL

AAAAWWWWW, their father-son relationship is soooooooooo adorable, as is this picture!!! I've been thinking for a while that their relationship is more than friendship, but I don't think of them as a pairing. I love the idea of them having a father-son relationship and wish there was more of it on dA.
I saw the movie before I even knew about the cartoons, and I really liked Haddock's character in the movie. Then I watched the cartoons and found him even more awesome! I think the idea of him acting all fatherly is so cute!

Just saw this over the holiday, and holy crap am I in hearts with the idea of Haddock being all parental.

Now, I have to admit (shamefacedly) that I too saw "something else" going on, but this is NOT because your art implies it, even accidentally!
It's simply because anime fandom is rife with "pairings" and many of those pairings are outside the norm. We get so used to seeing those in fanart that we make assumptions, almost automatically. I'm guilty of that, and I'm actually ashamed of it.
There is no reason at all that this drawing is anything but a loving father/adopted son sort of hug, and I should have assumed that FIRST. The other problem is that there are so bloody few images of fathers and sons interacting in such a way that sadly it's really an uncommon sight. It wasn't all that long ago that men would gruffly avoid hugging because it was unmanly. Happily, that's finally changing and guys are allowed to hug without being picked on by their cronies (at least here where I am). It's made them friendlier, more approachable, and generally all around nicer.
So, I want to thank you for making sure that the nice "bro-hug" is accepted and perpetuated. Even between Haddock and Tintin.

I was so worried of this being misinterpretated. I am on tumblr, so I see a lot of TintinxHaddock slash. So I want to present my view on their friendship. It seems so much more touching that he was an orphan and now through providence he is not. Makes me cries all manly like.
I do love bromances, and platonic strong long loving relationships between people. And while I am an advocate for gay rights and I am vocal, I never understood the fascination with ooc slash pairings. Bit too much like treating homosexuality as a novelty, but people are free to like what they like, personally not my cuppa tea.
I don't actually follow too much anime anymore. But Harry Potter fandom is pretty bad. Their relationships and orientations are written out in pretty good detail so I don't get how people think Harry and Draco are meant to be. He stomped his face in, when are you people going to get they are just not that into each other?
haha but with fandoms you take the odd with the silly and fun. Any show of appreciation is good.
