Description
So here's my entry for the Final Fantasy contest.Β After spending an inordinate amount of time on a failed attempt to draw Lightning wearing overly-ornate "Orphan" armor, i went back to the drawing board and drew her with a seashell/coral-based outfit......my idea was, now that FF designs have a harder-edged techno-urban look, to do something simpler, something that might have fit into Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy V, or The Secret of Mana.Β I hope i succeeded?

Dude, I'm ashamed of myself for not commenting on this sooner! Dunno how I missed this, the seashell/coral armor on this gal is GORGEOUS, love it, you worked in so many different shell types into the suit but it all gels together perfectly, excellent work, if I come up with a naval commander character for Tiamab's forces I may want to hire ya to design armor for her like this one :3

I'm all up for doing some more shell armor. Β Shells are sexy. Β Everyone knows this.

Nice concept for armor. I love the details you've put into this, especially in the third picture from the left. I'm talking about the shoulder pad and the spiralling snail shell-like part of it.
Kinda reminds me of some of the armor sets from Morrowind.

Thanks... the close up figure you mentioned was the heart of the piece, and i'm thinking of isolating it and making it it's own thing.Β Now that the contest is over and such.

The dynamic pose, left center, is good, although not one of your strongest. The profile view right of center, though, is a definite strength, and highlights some of the excellent things you do with design work. The ammonite shoulder piece, and the way the helmet evokes a big conch shell, are just perfect.

....too bad it didn't make the cut of 50 semifinalists.
Le sigh.

I adore this kind of organic armour look
Ok, granted, I know nothing offical about the character, but she seems kind of... wistful here.
It's also interesting how you did the front view in two halves. That's not an effect that I have ever considered using before, but I think I like it.

Not sure if you remember this one - fav.me/d39p2yz
The Yuuzhan Vong are aliens from the Star Wars books who make all sorts of interesting weapons, armour, devices, ships, etc from bio-engineered critters. Given how well you do organic armour, I imagine you could have a field day with them.

I think this is very good. You can tell you've put a lot of effort into this. However, you've said you're open to criticism. If you hadn't said so I'd keep these thoughts to myself. In all honesty, you still have some time and if I were you I would work on the skin tone. I like the idea of making it green. However, from an outside point of view it looks sort of too green and flat. I think a better idea would be to give her a natural skintone.... That's just my two cents. Good luck!

Thanks... i might do that.Β I am a big fan of weird skin tones, and it may not be appropriate here.
