Full-view please. It's a Flash animation. If you have a crappy computer like me that can't run large .swf properly, set the quality to medium or something.Anyway, about the pic. I wanted to make the shadows swirly like in the manga, but Flash wouldn't animate it, so I had to settle for this. It's crap, I know.
Ceres looks butch in this picture. Why the hell can't I draw properly?

Well, it is the uniform. A uniform on a woman does give her a butch look, especially the shoudlers, it widens them out making them look like football players.
Still, its such a wonderful peice of work for flash animation.

Ah, I think I see what you're getting at. I think it might be the chin. Traditionally in some animes women have more of a pointed chin, while men have a wider one. But that's my assessment so far.

I think that's right. Looking back at the picture, she also has a pretty big neck. Most anime draw girls with Barbie-thin neck as well.

Yeah, that is true, though that's probably artistic lisence, becuase some anime/manga go for a certain level of realism. An example that i have on hand is "Paranoia Agent" where the people (particularly the men) look so realistic that they look almost ugly.

To be honest, I was actually quite unhappy with the way the animation turned out (I wanted it to be swirly like in the manga, but for the life of me couldn't figure out how to do it in Flash). I was quite surprised so many people like it. Ah, well.

Wow! Awesome! Hey, it doesn't look crappy at all... I really like the arm's effect anyway. Sure it's not curly, but it does have the uber-cool smoke effect that Hirano-sensei was probably trying to draw anyway! Plus, Seras doesn't look butch at all... that's how Kouta Hirano drew her, anyway.
