Wow, thanks. Maybe I'm just insane, that's what it is... "all guns blazing in Photoshop". You start with a photo of something else, preferably shiny or with some other interesting texture, then you morph it into the shape of a human or whatever using "liquify", masks, colors, texturizer, transform, lots of layers, filters, airbrush, blur, sharpen, etc. Like sculpting from raw materials. If you're careful, it doesn't get too cartoony.
